I chose caregiving because I am in school for healthcare; I love science and my emphasis is epidemiology. More than anything I love to hear people's life story, I feel caregiving provides the bridge to form a special trust, and experience another person's life. For 7 years I cared for my elderly mother in my home when she was diagnosed with Alzheimers. I help care for my 17 year old grandson, born with a genetic disorder and severely disabled his entire life. He has a feeding tube and needs constant care. I worked as a charge nurse and a wound care nurse for 15 years. I loved and enjoyed working with the elderly. I get great fulfillment knowing I'm making a difference in their lives. I have experience with Foley catheters, G-tubes, NG tube and tracheostomy care. I've worked with Alzheimer's and dementia patient. I also have experience with rehab since I've worked hand-in-hand with physical therapy and Occupational therapy to meet plan of care of patients post surgery. I became a caregiver back in 2002 at Huntington Memorial hospital and love working with people that needed my help it makes me feel happy when I see a smile on there face , I also understand the struggle of everday life .
