I graduated from Rasmussen college with my diploma in medical assisting in April of 2021, covid had hit and I decided I didn't want to be in the doctors office, rather one on one with a client in caregiving. Hello! My name is Andrea, you may also call me Andy (for short) I've been a CNA since 2008. What's helped me enjoy my career more than anything is my residents & families. I consider everyone I have got the pleasure of taking care of like extra grandparents and I couldn't thank their families enough for sharing them with me. I've been trained & also have worked with Alzheimer's, & dementia. My grandmother whom I took care of for a couple years also had this disease. I've been trained on hoyer lifts many times. Also I've been educated on puree foods, thicken liquids & mechanical soft. I have a family of 2 of which I absolutely adore. My 13 yr old son & 1 yr old little girl. They keep me busy when I'm not working our summers consist of baseball games, swimming & learning something new everyday.

A good caregiver is patient, flexible, and has empathy and compassion. Those are exact reasons why I knew I wanted to take care of people! At a very young age I realize that I always wanted to help people. From taking care of younger siblings to my grandpa when he got sick. I wanted to make sure that quality of life was being lived to the fullest. I enjoyed seeing others happy because I was able to help. Most of my career has been as a caregiver. There was a brief time that I worked in accounting completing my degree in 2015. It seems that I am doing what I enjoy the most helping others.

I am empathetic and compassionate to foster a genuine relationship with the patient. Being a family member figure makes me feel I am doing my part in keeping the patient's loved ones up to date with daily activities. I am very sensitive and open with a patient's fears. I strive to keep them comfortable and remind them of their important contributions within the family. I want them to know they are cared for, loved, and that I am a caregiver that they can trust.

I am well experienced. I became a caregiver, more than twenty years ago, to give quality care to those in need. I enjoy meeting new people and listening to their stories. I have had Certified Nursing Assistant training, Direct Support Professional training, Qualified Medication Aide training, and am well read with experience as Physical Therapy Aide. As a caregiver, it is nice to have both a decent medical vocabulary and an interest in continuous learning about the functions of the human body.
