What makes me a great caregiver , I love my clients as well as what I do I enjoy being able to help those who need more help than others or just even being a opening ear to talk to , I think what made me want to be in this Field is seeing my mother do it she has always been my inspiration, after I was old enough to try for myself I seen how people would treat the residents and I wasn't to happy about it , I've always said you treat people how you want to be treated or how you would want your parents treated or grandparents etc if they were in a situation of the sort . Working in this field has taught me that no matter your race your weight your height your religion, it's about your heart and how one feels about you as well as how you feel about what your doing and who your doing it for .

I became a caregiver in 2004 because I'd spent the last few years of my grandmother's life helping her while she suffered with dementia. I saw how important it was for them to have someone there to help them with the day to day when family couldn't be. Then after I got into the profession my love for helping others just grew. To see the joy it brings to the person to sometimes just have someone there for a companion. I've been working in child care since 2019 and intend to stay there but I've also began part time home health again since July 2021 and am so thankful that I did. In the last year I have 5 of the absolute most wonderful families that I love going to see, helping them makes my heart smile. One client even tells his wife, "I'm sure glad she's coming today because I miss her, she's a sweet little girl". I feel such a connection with my clients that to me, they aren't just clients, they are family?

I'm always happy and I love being able to be a helping hand to someone who needs it and seeing my patients happy makes me happy

Hello! My name is Quenetha Cotton I am a,36 year old African American woman I live in Texas with my 3 children.

I am a friendly, knowledgeable person, who genuinely cares about others. When beginning with others I am often quick to gauge the best methods of approach. It is incredibly hard - even for the most open among us - to admit the need for assistance -much less open up our home, lives and failing bodies and minds to a stranger. I've had many introductions in my years and Ive become pretty good with the "Icebreaker". There are situations where acceptance is a bit more complicated, but, some of my best work relationships are forged in slow starts. I come from an example of honor and love in caring for others.-my Mother has spent her entire life, since 5 yrs. old making a difference to someone in need. She has been in nursing and caregiving since she was 5 years old helping her great aunt who ran a home for elderly widows. She is now 70 years old and continues to work with grateful families and patients. There is hardly anything I can't ask her when I get stumped in helping one of my clients. There are occasions and things the medical teams aren't familiar with, nor will they share which can be of benefit to someone suffering. In closing , I believe it is my mission here to be of service to those I may help; and my desire is that each of those individuals know that it is my privilege to be of help to them .
