Licensed Kansas CNA training took care of my ex's father for 5 years he was diabetic and had kidney failure so was on dialysis and was a double amputee. That is actually what started my journey to be a caregiver. I enjoy that feeling of accomplishment by helping others in need. I'm proud of taking care of my ex's father for 5 years and that he stayed in my home till the day he passed away I took care of him.

I am extremely detail oriented and take pride in doing my job well. I began my COTA career in the Denver area after graduating from the program in 2014. I moved back to Westcliffe in 2016 in the best interest of my son. It was difficult to find full-time employment as a COTA in the area, so I went to work for the Custer County Road & Bridge Department. In 2018, I was able to stop working and devote my time to my son, as well as volunteer for CASA. As my son grew older, I decided to go back to work. I am currently working for the Custer County Treasurer's Office as Deputy Treasurer, which I truly enjoy, however I am looking to supplement my income while helping others.

I am an energetic, goal-driven, caring person who is interested in using my medical experience for someone in need of care. While I was in high school, I was a caregiver for an elderly man with Alzheimer's and terminal cancer. I greatly valued my time spent with him and was thankful that we could help each other out; I was able to help him do day-to-day activities as his caregiver and he gave was prompt to give me life advice anytime he saw fit. Shortly after he passed away, I graduated high school and joined the Army National Guard as a combat medic. One of the biggest reasons for my enlistment was to get my foot in the door with the medical field and to better the quality of our troop's lives. Being a medic means I get to see people on their worst days and, though that might be a less than glorious job to some, I find purpose in the fact that any intervention I administer helps better that person's quality of life. I intend on furthering my career in the medical field as a paramedic and will be attending school for my associates in paramedic medicine- ultimately leading to a career as a flight medic.

I have been in the healthcare field for 30 years although I have dabbled in other careers I always come back to caring for others. I have worked in many different settings but always go back to working with the elderly. My belief is that they spent their lives working and caring for others so they deserve the same respect. I think I knew at a young age healthcare was my calling. What I enjoy most about healthcare is knowing that I am able to give my people the best care possible. My personal achievement is raising my four kids as a single mom to be honest,reliable and caring humans.
