I have been a Caregiver for approximately 10 years. I love what I do and believe if you dont have a calling for this type of work then dont do it! I have always been very easy going and work with my clients for any situation.

My name is Kathleen and I have been caring for infants and adults for over 10 years. After graduating High School, my grandmother became ill and needed a full time caregiver. I wasn't sure how I would do but it didn't take long to realize I enjoyed taking care of others. Soon after my children were born I began working at a daycare, so that I would be able to take my children with me to work. I enjoyed taking care of infants and toddlers, but as my children got older and started school full time I decided to apply at an assisted living facility. After working there about 6 months I decided this would be my career path. I took an accredited course to become a certified nurses aide and began working at a skilled nursing facility. I have heard so many memories and stories from my sweet residents, and the joy on their faces make me feel like I am making a difference.

I enjoy helping others feel joy. When I began my journey as a caregiver in 2008, I worked with alzheimer's patients. To brighten the moment and see a twinkle in their eye was rewarding beyond words. I spent 7 years with that facility. I moved to mental health and expanded my caregiving far further by attending the adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. My joy in giving resulted to being promoted into activities coordinator. I left to accept a position as Activities Director. Finding my greatest reward after being recruited to work with a hospice team ! My passion for positive activities helped this team open doors and gain patients from many nursing facilities. Caregiving gives back so much!

I'm 21 years old, and a have two year old daughter. Started cna work in 2016 had all my class and training and floor hours at the faculty I worked at. Left work when I had my daughter and am just now looking for work again. I enjoy being a caregiver. It's nice to feel like your doing something good for someone.

I have been a caregiver 26 years. I have experience working with elderly and disabled patients. I have learn to communicate with nonverbal people to know their needs and wants. I'm a very compassionate, caring and outgoing person. It's important to me that my clients/ patients are comfortable; well cared for. I became a caregiver due to having a daughter with disabilities.

I have been working as a Nurse Aide for about four months. I completed my training, and am waiting on the results of my state test for my CNA license. When you become a CNA, it gives you the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of people, which is something I've always wanted to do. The job can be very demanding, but it is also very rewarding. The relationships you build with your patients are like no other, and it is a good feeling when you can help your patients feel better. I first thought about becoming a CNA when my grandfather was diagnosed with a terminal illness similar to Parkinson's. Hospice came into our home to care for him when it became too much for us to handle on our own. They were very helpful, and provided him with not only care, but also companionship. Seeing the difference that they made not only for my grandfather, but also for me and the rest of my family, that is what made me want to get into healthcare. I believe that is what makes me a great caregiver. I think about each of my patients as if they are my own family. And if they were, I would want only the best care for them. That is why I always strive to do the absolute best I can to care for my patients.

I honestly went right in to provider as a young 19 yr girl. This is my calling always will be to make someones day with just a simple gesture or a smile. I think what attracted me as young girl that cared totally 100 percent was just living the life I had and pushed myself to be a bigger and better person,I lived with my grandmother and then she lived in the nursing home and I would always go and be with her and the residents. I appreciated my life by viewing what others lived...Sometimes not so fortunate. Will I enjoy being a care taker to brighten someones day with a act kindness and just being myself...knowing I made a difference in someones Day. My personal acheivment I Made was always knowing that everyone knew that I worked with. I am compassionate and enjoy providing service which allows the clients more freedom. The security of dependable help is key for the client and the trust bestowed on us as caregivers is a gift.
