My first healthcare experience was being an intern at Baptist Hospital for, then I followed with The Brooks of Cibolo as a caregiver/ medication aid. My current job is at Bella Groves as a caregiver/ medication aid. I'm very positive and outgoing, I love making people smile! Being there to help someone maintain their dignity and help keep their life as it was before is why I became a caregiver. I have experience; first I took care of mom at home and in The Nursing home. She suffered from congestive heart failure and dementia. Same for 2 of my elderly aunts as well. I believe in life that has great quality of life. In as much as possible read with or to friend to exercise that brain. I enjoy being company and meeting clients needs. Hello there! My name is Cecilia, and I am from the great state of Texas! I was born with a strong affection, empathy, and genuine interest in working with the old and senior populations! My story : I was raised for a short period of time by My great nana and uncle . When they became sick, they were moved into hospice care. I recall doing everything I could to brighten their spirits and provide them happiness and peace. But at those moments, I discovered my calling and purpose. Working with the elderly senior generation now has the same implications. Working with each family, I offer the same comfort, love, and peace. I find myself caring for this generation as if they were my own family. My goal with each family is to constantly provide light to each individuals I serve. I have a job that takes patience and a compassionate heart. Experience wise I've spent years in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, long-term care facilities, private homes, and one-on-one care, learning and practicing so many skills and equipment that I'm convinced I can assist you.

I was 15 years old and just started my freshman year of high school when I was placed in a class called Intergenerational Studies. For 2 hours each day I was taken to the nursing home called Golden Years there in Elgin, Tx. I started off just getting residents from their rooms to come and do activities with me. But it wasn't long and I was working side by side with CNAs, RNs, and at one point the DON had me shadow her for 2 weeks. I just got really interested and a few years after graduation and having my son, I pursued a CNA certification and was assigned the hospice hall and the "lockdown unit" which was occupied by the more violent patients and those with conditions such as Alzheimer's and/or parkinson's, as well as those with behavioral health conditions. I honestly just fell in love with everything about caring for the elderly. Even the hard and very emotional side of the care I provide is something I wouldn't want to stop doing. I would love to get my CNA back but just haven't attempted to do so since my husband passed in 2011. Since my high school days I have worked with all ages of people, from a 2 year old little princess to a 98 year old gentleman I referred to as Fred Astaire due to them looking like twins. He loved it and would smile so big when I walked in every day; and every day he would say "Good morning Ms. Judy (Garland). You feel like dancing the day away?" It's things like that for which I love my work. Please feel free to ask anything, I would love to tell everything now but there is just so much I've been blessed to have experienced with so many different people I'd never be done.
