I absolutely love my job. I have worked in the nursing home with respiratory, dementia, all different kinds.

I have been a caregiver for over 20 yrs. I started out in group homes working with the mentally disabled for 7 yrs then went to a senior living home where I worked for 12 yrs then had the opportunity to work with the retired nuns which all have been very rewarding jobs.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I take my time and sit down and talk to the person im caring for. Ask them what they like and dislike and how I can help them without making them feel helpless. I always want to care for people since I was a small child. Growing up watching my mom do it and then having to take care of my own grandmother while she was battling lung cancer. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is that you can learn so much about people that everyone is different. Learning how they grew up and the goals they made makes me want to better myself as a person. My personal goal i have met? This hits hard. I was a young mom at 15 so I was put threw a lot of hoops. My biggest goal was actually getting my GED going to college and becoming the caring loving person I am today. My kids always make strive to do better and be a great teacher to them. One day I'll be a medical assistant.
