Empathy and compassion. Working with people in a home care setting, it is essential that a caregiver feel the desire to want to help. By showing both empathy and compassion caregivers will let the person they are caring for know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help them. I have the patience to work with someone who needs home care it is important to me that the patient and I have an understanding. It helps to sometimes put yourself in the other person's shoes and see what it might be like to ask people for help. I'm very Reliable A great caregiver is someone that can be counted on to be there. If the caregiver says he or she is going to be there to provide home care every Thursday morning, then the caregiver shows up, unless there is an emergency. Those needing home care services need a reliable and dependable caregiver. Trustworthy. Most people who need home care services are in a vulnerable position. They are inviting someone into their home to be near their valuables. A good caregiver is someone who is trustworthy in this regard, as well as in being trusted to keep the client's information confidential. Very flexible As with most things in life, home care needs may change and unexpected events can happen. A good caregiver will be prepared to go with the flow, being flexible, so that they continue to provide good home care, even if a rigid schedule isn't being followed. Good home caregivers are those who naturally have an urge to help others. Often times they are people who have always placed a priority on helping other people. They want to make the world a better place and they do it with one home care patient at a time. Becoming a good home caregiver isn't something that will necessary happen immediately, but if the basic qualities are there, those people can develop their skills over time to become great!

I really enjoy helping people out. I recently was a caregiver for a lady in Canton, Ms. I am very organized and coordinated. I enjoy being able to help other people out who are in need of help. A personal achievement that I have overcome is completing everything I set my mind to.

I really enjoy working with the elderly and disabled. Which is why I am a Counselor at MDRS. I Help provide personal care attendant services to those living in the community that may be at risk of going into a nursing facility. I help avoid the facilities so that the elderly and disabled are able to live independently in there homes and community safety. My expertise also include, observation skills, ability to follow set rules and protocol, time management, organizational skills, and lastly empathy and compassion. When I was just starting out in college I know I wanted to be something where I could give back to the community and I found it by becoming a CNA and going even further and getting my degree and becoming a counselor at the department of rehabilitation. Through Health Science classes and my time at Hinds, I've gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience that strengthened my passion for caregiving. What first attracted me to caregiving was seeing how much of a difference kindness and support can make in someone's life. I have helped care for a child with disabilities and a feeding tube alongside my mom through at-home care, where we made sure they were safe and received immediate help if needed. I have also helped my grandmother with bathing patients, changing them, making sure medications were given on time, and simply being there for emotional support and comfort. What I enjoy most about caregiving is building connections with people and knowing I can make their day a little easier or brighter. I believe everyone deserves patience, respect, and genuine care.
