Hi! I've been in the home heath field for approximately 16 years on and off. I started in the nursing field at age 15 as a CNA working in a nursing home. I also worked in a Personal Care Home for 6 years. I enjoy taking care of seniors and individuals with disabilities. I love being able to care for others and the rewarding feeling that comes within. I'm a pround mom of 2 remarkable adult children and four amazing granddaughters!

As a Candystriper many years ago, I gravitated toward the elderly. As a nursing student (I didn't not complete), I found that it was the elderly that needed that one-on-one, extra time spent, relationship. While in college, I provided home care/companion care, and have on and off for the past 35+ years. I've had a myriad of clients with different concerns and at various stages of health. I spent two days w/my father-in-law while he was in hospice, and was present at his passing, calling TOD. I enjoy doing for others, providing them w/care and companionship while allowing family members to take a much-needed break. An "achievement" that I'm most proud of is giving a client back some semblance of pride. Though she suffered from dementia, she could still communicate and read. Her abject fear was to be alone and trapped. I made a sign that was at the foot of her bed that reminded her that she was never alone and that someone was always there. The sign had velcro dots, and each caregiver had a small sign w/their name on it that could be affixed for their shift. She was able to call us by name when she became panicked, fearing that she was alone (even though someone was always in the next room). When she sat at the dining room table eating her meal and because she didn't have the strength to push herself away from the table, she would fret that she was trapped and couldn't relax enough to enjoy her meal. I made a little tent card that had a picture of a dining table and chair, and it said "you have the power to move back from the table because we will help you". Both signs made a huge difference in her life...something so simple, yet so powerful.

I believe im a great caregiver because I have a very big heart and also love helping others. Im a very friendly person and a hard worker. I have excellent communication skills and excellent time management, cleaning and organization skills. I started in the healthcare field in 2015 working through Pathways Inc. I wanted to become a caregiver because I enjoy making a difference in peoples lives and have a lot of knowledge in this field. Also I feel I am making a difference in the family/seniors lives by being able to provide consistency and compassion.

I am 57 and retiring from a career in Special Education. I have also worked as a speech therapist in the educational setting. I will be providing care for my infant granddaughter weekdays. I am looking to provide support to local Seniors evenings and weekends. I have experience in educating individuals with a wide variety of physical and intellectual disabilities. I also helped to provide care to my father who had dementia. I have been involved with Pawz And Purrz Animal Rescue for the past 4 years and love animals of all kinds.

I am a person who loves hard and cares deeply for people. Care giving is a family business in a sense. I grew up watching all of my female family taking care of others. I love being a care giver bc I am able to give back to the generation that helped raised me. I enjoy their stories and companionship.

I'm a very punctual person, being on time is very important to me because it shows that I respect other people and their time. I have a great work ethic and get along well with others. I enjoy helping others and I am most fulfilled when helping others. I am most proud of the job I am doing raising four of my eleven grandchildren.

I have worked as a Personal Care Attendant for 4 years on and off. I enjoy working one on one clients to show them the support and care that they need. I like helping people stay independent but being there when they need the help.

I am a young caregiver with a lot of energy and patience. I have experience working with individuals with a wide range of needs and abilities. I pride myself in forming unique relationships and providing essential care. I'm comfortable with cooking, cleaning, bathing, dressing, assisting with elimination and intake, medication administration, transportation, and other basic instrumental activities of daily living. I have worked with people in wheelchairs, who require lifts, and those who are fully mobile. I have experience with Dementia, severe Anxiety and Depression, Cerebral Palsy, mild to moderate Developmental Disabilities. I am an animal lover so pets are not a problem for me.

Being a care giver is one of the hardest yet satisfying thing I've ever done in my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything

I always loved taking care of my grandpa Zeke. He had COPD and I had to put his medicine in his breathing machine and get him water when he needed it when I slept over. I choose to help my grandma because I loved helping any way I could. My grandma lives in an apartment building for the elderly and I always when I go help all the ladies out with cleaning or just being there to talk about the apartment gossip. I love caregiving because it gives me a sense of satisfaction of doing something good that I think is fun and very rewarding. I am a good listener, respectful, kind, caring, thoughtful of others, loving, and I absolutely love to help people. I graduated this past year in 2018 when I was supposed to graduate in 2019. I graduated a whole year early because I wanted to get into the work that I enjoy and love which is to help people and give them the care they need.
