I have been involved in healthcare since the age of 15 , starting as a "candy striper" volunteer and worked in many areas of the hospital until of age to work in Emergency Medicine. I have been an active EMT/ Paramedic with both volunteer and career departments and taken part in evaluating home safety checks for residents. As a healthcare professional, I have worked in various hospitals and am very knowledgeable in diseases, aging process and treatments. I have a soft heart for our Veterans with several Veteran family members. I love people and enjoy conversing with elders that have so much to share.

I consider myself a great caregiver because I go above and beyond to make sure my residence get the best care. I have a kind heart and plenty of patience and I have the desire to help those that are in need. I love to make my residence happy, comfortable and I love to see them smile. One of my personal achievements was being there by my grandmothers side while she was diagnosed with dementia and making every moment a special one.

Ive been a CNA for 20 yrs, received my license in North Carolina in 2001 and in Virginia in 2009. I believe the most important thing that makes me a great CNAs is patience and understanding. The reason why I became a CNA is I find joy in the elderly. They are knowledgeable, they make you laugh,and you can learn alot from them. I get great joy in seeing the smiles on their faces because they're pleased with me.

I became a caregiver 22 years ago when (at that time) my mothers employer was looking for a 'fill-in' person. I gave it a try and absolutely fell in love with what I did! I love being a caregiver because I find great joy in helping others!! I have worked with a lot of Seniors and I have helped them to be able to stay in their homes! I have a passion for helping others! I am a very energetic, trustworthy, reliable and caring individual!! I am able to provide great references upon request!!

I think what makes me a great caregiver is I love helping people. I enjoy seniors the most because they usually have great stories. I am a mother of three adult children and a grandmother to four grandchildren that I help care for. I have taken care of my great grandfather and my mother when they were ill, towards the end of their life. I know how much it meant to them to be comfortable as they could be in the comfort of their own home. Everytime I care for someone, I always keep that in mind. I pray that if I am blessed to grow old, I hope that I am cared for the same exact way. I have taken quite a few Alzheimer's and dementia classes, for better understanding of the disease. I have worked with a few seniors dealing with this. I am more of a Caretaker/ Companion, meaning I'm there to help your loved to stay as independent in their own home as they can possibly be. I cook, do light housekeeping, laundry, errands and grocery shop, help with medication reminders, help with grooming and getting dressed. I help with pretty much anything that needs to be done.

I'm very calm very passionate very understanding and attentive. I love helping people, I feel like it gives me a sense of purpose, and I love getting to know people Being that someone that makes them feel cared about and like they are not alone I became more open to new things
