I graduated from Rasmussen college with my diploma in medical assisting in April of 2021, covid had hit and I decided I didn't want to be in the doctors office, rather one on one with a client in caregiving. Hello! As you can see my name is Amy, I am of mom of two little girls and we just recently moved out here to the Bloomington area. I have been a CNA for 4 years, I personally find a lot of purpose in being a CNA. Every since I got certified this is all I have done since because I truly enjoy what I do.

I have a very happy person, and I am also very patient. I love helping those that cannot help themselves, and I feel like it's the least that I can do. My favorite thing about being a caregiver is how satisfying it is when I can make such a difference in someone else's life. I am very outgoing and my personality is large. I love to socialize with the client and make jokes to make them smile. I enjoy being a companion and friend they can count on when their family is not there so they are not alone! I'm proud of having many residents until the last day of their life to may a long lasting impact, knowing they could always count on me and I stuck around until the very end!

What makes me a great caregiver is that I enjoy helping the elderly and I've been a CNA for the last 4 years and I also do home health care also. I've worked in nursing homes where there was many of residents that needed help with ADLs.

I would like to think of myself as very caring, compassionate and kind. I gave being a caregiver a try when I was just a teenager fresh out of high school and ended up loving it. I have a sibling that requires 24 hour care so I would help with him a lot I believe that's why I wanted to give it a try. I think being able to be a supervisor for caring for people is an achievement I'm proud of.

Last summer I started some private care for a friend who was recovering from broken leg. I started with Senior Helpers at about the same time but did not have client for a few months. Since Covid-19 I have primarily just done weekly grocery shopping. I currently provide a shower to a weekly dementia client and clean her bathroom and cat boxes.
