I was working in a factory setting in my youth and really was not happy. I saw an ad for a CNA class at the Rochester Manor, so by keeping my job and taking the class at night, I was able to learn a whole new career, which has been so gratifying. The people that I have been able to meet over the years are truly inspiring, and they all have a story to tell, and I enjoy lending an ear.

Becoming a Caregiver was out of necessity, to fulfill one woman's simple request of not being placed into a nursing home. She had had a challenging childhood: daily nourishment often was tea and bread; coats were used as blankets during the evening. She persevered during her marriage, raising a brood of children while being the dutiful wife. So, when called upon, it was an opportunity to give back. I have found that I have great resolve, have not floundered in my integrity, and have given care with compassion and kindness. In doing so, I have been greatly rewarded.
