I feel I am a great caregiver because I am empathetic, caring, charismatic, silly, I love to make my consumers smile and be happy. I became a caregiver for the following reasons there are never enough caregivers to go around, I have worked short handed in caregiving since I started. I enjoy helping my consumers live their life to best they can and I am willing to help any way I can to achieve that goal. I have been working the the health field for 18 years. I have worked in home care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and psych hospitals. I love helping people. I love to sit and hear their the stories of their past. I am a very caring person and treat all my residents as if they were my own family. My mother was an aide when I was younger and I always admired what she did and wanted to do the same. I love everything there is about being a caregiver, from the good days to the bad. Every moment, every day is very rewarding. I have two personal achievements that I am most proud of. The first one is my three children. They are my everything and my reason to get up every day and keep doing what I do. My second one is the fact that I am now back in school. I never had enough self confidence to do it but with the support of my children and my boyfriend I know I can accomplish it and be great at it.

I first knew I wanted to be a caregiver when I was 15 years old. I started taking care of my great-grandmother in her home and absolutely loved every aspect of it, so I made it my career. I am compassionate and understanding. I have had many clients over the years so I have also had plenty of experience! I have always liked working with the elderly, maybe because I was raised by my grandparents. I like listening to their stories and there is always something to learn from the different ways people were raised! My most proud achievement in my life was raising 4 good kids!

I truly love people. Since I was two years old my mother called me a Chatty Kathy with the difference being I am a Katie! Legally my first name is Sarah but I do go by Katie. I love to sing. I love music. I like to listen to stories! I'm happy to write down information about people's lives. I think that that is something that is important to pass down to generations. I have a CD of my grandfather speaking about his life in the military. I cherish it. I'd be happy to make anything like that while I am taking care of a loved one for someone. I very interested in working with people and helping people when they need it the most.
