I became a caregiver to share my heartfelt support and lend that helping hand that my clients may need. I have been in the health care field for over 20 years I started when i was 18 yrs. old so it's definitely in my DNA! What I love about caregiving is the feeling i get knowing I have put a smile on a face and lent a helping hand. It just warms my heart to know that I have been instrumental in a persons day to day care and healthcare needs. A proud moment for me was when I walked across the stage to accept my CNA license and my Medical Assistant license. It was at those moments that i knew i can now pursue what I love to do and do it professionally! I'm a very outgoing person who loves God and Life and Family. Being honest, reliable and patient is what i stand on. I love to read books , take long walks and go fishing. I attend church on Sundays and I love to talk and share knowledge. Health and wellness is also a passion of mine and anything Organic! I love being outdoors traveling, museums and just learning anything new! I'm here to serve and help others all while doing it with a smile..

Because I enjoyed and love working with people. Do the best to help them what they need. I enjoyed being care giver I treat my residents like my own family. We just move to Austin 3 weeks ago from California and when I leave my work in California i was very shocked and surprise that how I important I am to my residents, boss, and my colleagues because they all giving me support and comforts. Everybody's sad. That my achievement that they treasure me as caregiver, assistant adminstrator and co worker. And I will never forget them.
In 1981, when I was a five-year-old child, my mother became gravely sick with an illness her doctors could not diagnose. She often spent four to five months at a time in the hospital, recover enough to come home, but would fall ill again and again with no explanations. This went on for approximately seven years. During the time my mom was home my two sisters, brother, and I did everything we could to make her comfortable that we were capable of doing as children. Yet, seeing my mom in pain and so much discomfort instilled within me a tremendous sense of empathy and compassion. Despite the short periods of time she spent at home between hospitalizations, I developed a deep sense of appreciation for my mother because I missed her terribly. Thankfully, she finally came home and the relief was immense. My grandmother lived with us for 15 years due to her deteriorating health as a result of diabetes, cataracts, loss of hearing, and the loss of the ability to clothe and prepare her own food. I helped to dress her in the morning, attend to her left foot which she almost lost to gangrene. But we managed to heal it and she only lost her left big toe. She was still able to walk albeit with a walking chair. I loved to bake so I would make special desserts for her which she was allowed small portions. It was a great activity for us to bond together. She could watch me make it and give me tips. In college, I became a Caregiver for a quadriplegic man. Although, I didn't have experience caring for a paralyzed man, Michael told me he would explain what he needed on the job. My morning shift started at 7AM and I bathed his nude body, medicated his bedsores, emptied his catheter, performed physical therapy, and fed him his breakfast. If he had chores to complete during my shift, I'd dress him then move him from his bed to his wheelchair and into in his van. Once we finished his chores, I would put him back in his bed, remove his clothing, and clean his apartment.
I am a great caregiver because l treat my clients like they are part of my family, like l would want my loved one to be cared for. My personality is very calm and easy going & l think that helps when l work with my clients & they may be uneasy about something, l can calm them down. I have always wanted to start my own home health agency one day. A personal achievement for me was purchasing my first home in my twenties.
I have been working with people with all very different needs but they all have one thing in common and that is the need for direct care and support training in diffrent areas. i treat all my clients with love honesty and respect just as i do with my immediate family beause we are all one.
Hi, my name is Martha. I became a care giver because I am a caring, compassionate, and trustworthy individual with about 8 years of experience taking care of people in health care facilities or seniors in the comfort of their homes. I do enjoy caring for seniors because I do derive some satisfaction when I help elderly people feel loved, cared for and valued. I strongly believe that their lives should not be put on hold or or made feel undignified as a result of their age or any health challenge they may be experiencing. In doing my job effectively and wholeheartedly, I promote and encourage self worth, maintaining dignity, such that every client I work with, feels loved, cared for and appreciated as a valuable member of the community.
