Hello! I have 12 years experience in the medical field. I've been doing companion/homecare for 10 years. My work is extremely rewarding. I strive for my client to enjoy the interaction and am appreciated for the light housekeeping, laundry and meal prep.
My overnight care experience has consisted of medication management, dressing, undressing, help with bathing, daily hygiene before getting dressed, incontinence, brace, gait belt, sling, bed rails, urinals and the use of scooters, canes, walkers and wheelchairs.
Both clients were stroke patients and am familiar with cueing, toileting, standing and sitting positions. A patient of 7 years, stroke victim, paralyzed in his left side. My patient of 1 year, 4 night live-in, stroke as well but full movement.
I have completed a respite care case recently and am now more knowledgable caring for cancer patients. All my career has been focused on serving human being, and this is what I like to do. I have a Bachelor in Medicine from my home country: Mali School of Medicine, and a Master of Science in Public Health from George Washington University. I have more than 10 years of hands-on experience in providing direct care services to adult with developmental disabilities and the elderly. Besides providing direct care to my client, I like to engage with them, take them out into the community, and many other recreational activity places they would like to go to. As far as for my personal achievement, I am proud of having been able to earn a master's degree in a country where English is not my first language, overcome cultural and language barriers, and adapt to a system that was new to me. I am ongoing, and friendly, and I always work hard to make a difference in the life of others.
