I am a very compassionate woman. I understand that every person deserves individual care that meets their individual needs. I am attracted to helping a person live their best life as much as possible. I enjoy being able to make a persons day better by me being there for them. One personal achievement I am proud of is helping a former client, whom had cancer become stronger and more full of life than before I entered his life!

My name is Michelle. I have enjoyed the last two years of training and caregiving experience with the elderly. I have worked specifically in an assisted living environment, where I managed the home with 5 care residents per one caregiver. Additionally, I have worked in homes with 10 residents per two caregivers. In each home, I have been able to individualize the care to each person, as their needs may be. I have experience in crisis' management, fall risk, dementia (Alzheimer's) care, and much more. My responsibilities including keeping relations with families/nurses/care team members, cooking and serving meals, pristine cleaning of homes, showering/toileting and assistance with all Activities of Daily Living.

What drew me to this field initially was when my grandmother had a heart attack. There are some good hospitals in florida (where I lived at the time) but majority are poor quality. Unfortunately, my grandmother ended up in one that wasn't great quality. At 16 years old, I stayed in her hospital room, sleeping on the floor, to ensure that if she needed to toilet, I could help her. I helped bathe her, and spent time with her. I did tasks that a CNA should have been performing, but it was the best thing for her because it gave her a sense of dignity in a moment of her life that was hard enough as it was. I have been working towards getting my RN completed ever since; while this goal has still not been accomplished, I am working towards it. Family is important to me, as I'm sure it is to you for your loved one. I am a single mother of 2 boys, recently divorced. I am a hard worker, and very passionate about what I do. I take my time where it matters, and recognize that there is always room for education and improvement.

I have been working as a Home Health Aide for nine years, one of my patients, my last one was with me for eight years till she past away. . During that course I also work with two patients in a day on different shifts. All of my patients love my dietary cooking, as well as my easy to get along personality. This is my job and I love it and everything I do is with love. I'm a hardworking and motivated employee. I went to BOCES and completed the Health Occupations program. I received several awards during this time for competing in a state wide competition called Skills USA. I currently have been working as a home aide since August of 2016 and I love it. I enjoy being a caregiver because I love being able to help and making my clients feel comfortable and safe. I currently am in school for Nursing I will be completing my sophomore year this spring.

I come from a big Military Family and love helping people. Moving around the different parts of the country I have met some wonderful people and learned many different things in life. I believe in keeping your loved ones busy and active keeps them young at heart!

Growing up with my grandparents I learned to care for the elderly. Once my grandparents got older I ended up caring for them until they passed. I'd cook, clean, medication reminders, help them walk, help them in the tub, help them get dressed and do grocery shopping. I enjoyed doing it and being there for them. Eventually after they passed I ended up moving to gloversville to care for my father who is legally blind. I'd do his grocery shopping, clothing shopping, cook, clean house and laundry. I did this until he was able to get a in home nurse to come in every day. Then, I ended up getting a job through Fulton Center to be able work with the elderly and be there for them as some families don't see there loved ones once in nursing home so, with working In that setting it brings joy to some of the residents to have that time with someone even of they believe your they're family seeing them. Being a caregiver is rewarding to see the smiles on others faces that you bring to them and knowing that they know you care about them.
