My name is Jovita Okeydike from Nigeria (West Africa) living in Bakersfield, C; USA. I am a wife and mother of five children, and I have been a CNA for more than five years. I have many experiences on how to care for patients both the young and the elderly. I acquired my experiences by working in the nursing home, county hospital, (KMC) home health care and private hospital.(Memorial Hospital) Academically, I have finished my prerequisite class for nursing program, hoping to be a registered nurse in the next two to three years by God's grace. I am a christian who believes in human kindness no matter the person, because every one created by God needs love, kindness, and care. I believe that man is not an Island, at some point in life we need others help, care, and love either from relatives or strangers. My family value of honesty and truthfulness cannot be compromised. Until one becomes sick or have love one that is sick or elderly, the person will not appreciate the work of care givers and health workers. Before I became a CNA, I took care of my father at his old age (90 years), the challenges of taking care of him were motivating factors to be a care giver and health worker.

I am a dependable CA-registered Home Care Aide with CPR and California Food Handler certifications. I am organized, compassionate, patient, meticulous, and proficient in caring for geriatric clients, with a sense of the respect and human dignity they deserve. I care for my clients the same way I would take care of my family; the way I would want to be cared for in similar circumstances.

Working with people in a home care setting, it is essential that a caregiver feel the desire to want to help. By showing both empathy and compassion caregivers will let the person they are caring for know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help them. Must be more patient and understanding,reliable and trustworthy and must be flexible. I am a Loving, Compassionate, Dependable, and Respectable Person. I have been caregiving over 20 years. I have patience and understanding and a great since of respect for the elderly and for those that are unable now to care for themselves. I have worked closely with nursing staff as well and doctors in treating clients. I come from a large family locally here in Kern County and this is my calling in life to care for others. To love and respect them as if their your own family. In my last position I was taking care of a elderly man that had to use a walker due to a stroke he had had, he didn't like to use it so he and I sat down and made a personal goal for him to walk again without assistance and he did just that. Our schedule consisted of a lot of pool therapy in the senior complex he lived in, we used swimming aides such as floaties and such to help him build his muscles back up, we made several trip's to the mall for our mall walks to build muscle and balance and his reward for the month was either a Bakersfield Blaze baseball game or going fishing which we did a lot of and it was great. I am Currently working full time as the Actvities Director & Resident Care Coordinator at a 46 bed Memory Care Community, I manage 14 employees as well as the service plan for all residents and plan and implement the hourly activities. I love what I do.

I AM A PEOPLE PERSON NO DOUBT ABOUT IT :) I LIKE TO GIVE THE CARE TO MY PATIENTS & CLIENTS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE. I AM VERY DOWN TO EARTH & LIKE TO GET TO KNOW THEM. AS OF 2007; I HAVE NOW BEEN ON BOTH SIDES OF CAREGIVER & BEING CARED FOR. WHICH AFTER SPENDING ALMOST 6MO IN HOSPITAL ..3 OF WHICH I HAD LOST USE OF MY LEGS--- I HAVE EVEN MORE RESPECT & EMPATHY FOR OTHERS. TO ME MAKING MY CLIENT FEEL THE BEST THEY CAN..WHETHER IT IS BECAUSE OF A SHOWER OR JUST SOMEONE WHO WILL LISTEN .. MAKES MY DAY :) I TRULY LOVE WHAT I DO. I THINK THAT JUST PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY SAY & DO .. HELPS ME ANTICIPATE WHAT THEY NEED. ONE ON ONE'S FOR ME; REALLY ALLOWS ME TO GIVE THE VERY BEST CARE I CAN GIVE.... AND THATS ALL I CAN DO .. IS MY BEST:)

Being a caregiver is not only a job. for me, it's the bonding between you the elderly that I will care for. I'll gave my love,respect,and tender loving care to them. I love to be a caregiver because I love to take care of elderly with all my heart. And I'm proud to say that I took good care of my bed ridden father in law for 4 years. And my mother in law for 2 years.

Becoming a caregiver honestly was by luck. I was applying everywhere looking for a job when I got a call for an interview. I went in began the posses and the next day started working! I fell in love with what I was doing. My job wasn't just a job it was more then that I loved all my clients and their families. I don't know how to explain exactly why but just knowing I was being able to help someone and make them happy with my company was great. A personal achievement for me would have to be knowing that I was making my clients happy and comfortable and knowing that I was good at my job 100%. I have just turned 27 in October and I have a 6 year old, I love my family. I have bounced around job to job trying to just find where I belong and when the door opened and I was blessed with being a caregiver I found where I was meant to be all along!

I am a verry compassionate and overly protective person when it comes to dealing with the elderly I have been taking care of the elderly and disable since I was in grade school and have allways been drawn to help as many people as possible ,i know that in this life I have been givin a purpose n it's to help all in need

I have several years experience as a personal care aide and home health aide and am very comfortable with all types of people and pay close attention to comfort and detail when with clients. I develop a personal close relationship to each person and value integrity and respect to the fullest. I love helping others and attending to others needs. I am reliable and can perform a wide variety of duties most notably housekeeping, cooking, and cosmetology which I am most confident with. I also hold a cosmetology liscense. I speak 4 languages and most experience is with elders.
