I first learned that I enjoyed patient-care back when I was a medical assistant in a private practice. I enjoyed learning and caring for others. I became a personal caregiver in 2005, and since then I have been able to assist many individuals and their families. I have found that my love for patient care today is done at a more personal level because every individual that I have assisted has their own personal needs; some need help with recovery, while others just need comforting and care through their aging process. By assisting patients in their home, to keep their routines, help them with medications, or just the in the simple act of being a good listener, I have found makes the world of difference to them--I am happy to have made a difference in someone's life. I am very proud of being a professional caregiver. Care-giving is an occupation which I have chosen and in many ways it has chosen me. My life has been influence by the many fine people of which I have had the privilege of knowing and providing care. Many of these individuals gave me the greatest gift that one can receive- their knowledge and experiences. I have a little more understanding of life and history as seen through their eyes. Hello my name is Katherine and I've been in the home care business for 30+ years and liked compassion and care because that's what it's all care and compassion for the people you taken care of and you care for them like your family and I have done it all my life. I've worked in the medical field as it in EMT for 17 years and I've taken care of people with special need too.

What makes me a great caregiver is that i always make sure my seniors are happy to get it started. I became a caregiver because i wanted to experience how it is to help them, one day i want to be able to know how to take care of my mom and grandmother. I love being a caregiver because it simply makes me happy, to see a simple smile on an elderly makes my day! To live another day no matter the pain that they are in and still manage to hang tight is what i admire from them. I am proud of being who i am today a great mother to my boys and a great caregiver. I treat the seniors around me the way i would want the seniors in my family get treated. One day i will be that way and would want a great caregiver. I love what i do.

About 10 years ago one of my family members was in a bad car accident that left him in a sleep coma since then my passion for the medical field grew. I enjoy meeting people and enjoy conversations, I get along with just anyone and that is what characterizes me as a great person. I have great people skills. I enjoy helping others anyway I can and that is why I love being a caregiver it is such a rewarding feeling knowing your making a difference in someones life, I don't see people as patients because soon they become family to me. I respect them and make sure that they are always treated with dignity and respect and as a caregiver that is very important to me. A personal achievement is to be in grad school and I still plan to continue to help people along the way.

I believe I am a great caregiver because of my genuine love and compassion for the senior population. I have over 25 years of caring and giving of service in all areas of geriatric care. I also have experience in the mental health field as I desired to learn and know more of mental health issues in those I cared for. I started as a CNA in 1979 and through my career advanced in many different areas, as well as going private duty so as to give my client's the best that they deserved and one on one tailored care.
