What attracted me too being a caregiver was when I would take care of my grandmother I loved being around her and her friends I love the things I learned from her I was spending a lot of time helping my grandmother I thought about working with the elderly when I started working in a retirement home I feel in love with all the residents and what I was doing it's like I was working but then i enjoyed was I was doing so much it felt like I was at home taking care over my grandma I think what makes me a good caregiver is I always treat my residents like if they were my grandma I know they won't like what she likes of course so I learn to build trust first and then a connection with them I also ALWAYS KEEP IN MY MIND THEY ARENT KIDS ! Hello families my name is Melodie, I prefer to go by Marie. I started caregiving when I was in middle school. Although not knowing it at the time, but I was caring my Daddy. He had brain cancer. I got to spend his very last moments with him, making hime comfortable and letting him know how much the family loved him. Then in highschool I had the opportunity to care for my Grandmother. She was 78 years young. I'm welcoming and a kind hearted person, I'm a great listener and someone who can recognize when things are not right. I'm very detailed and very organized and love a calm peaceful space and I have a smile that never leaves my face.
