Being a Caregiving is an extremely rewarding job. As a Caregivers I take care of our elders, the people who have given so much to this world. Taking care of people is something I'm very proud of. ... My name is Melissa. I have been working with Elderly and Disabled people since age 9. I started by Volunteering at a Nursing home ,and then I volunteered to work with disabled people of all ages. I knew from a small age that I wanted to care for people of all types. I have always had a special passion for The Elderly. For 8 years I managed a Spinal Clinic that primarily served the elderly. I assisted them with mobility, with comfort when they were nervous about new treatments, and answered questions they were too afraid to ask the doctor. I also took care of my grandmother growing up. She lived in a little house next to us but wasn't able to fully care for herself. I've assisted my own aging and diabetic mother with everything from bathing, toileting, preparing meals, running errands, etc--specifically after major illnesses and surgeries. I've also done volunteer work at Nursing Homes while in school. I am CPR and First Aid Certified. For the last 2 years I've been working as a full time Nanny.

I'm very passionate about caring for the elderly. I'm very reliable, punctual, honest, patient, caring, understanding, caring and gentle touch, very intuitive and compassionate. I believe the elderly should be well cared for, listened too , understood and loved. I enjoy being a caregiver because I bring Joy and Happiness to my clients. I also experience Joy, Happiness and Satisfaction caring for my clients. My achievement that I'm proud of is I have been in Healthcare for 9 years. Since I moved here to Denver I have no work for child care. But before moving here I was working as caregiver with my grandparents specifically my grandmother. that's when I started enjoying working with elderly I learned a lot by my grandma she taught me a lot of things that I didn't know with her it was with diabetes and my duties were to be in charge of taking her to doctors appointments her medication home cleaning and learn how to remove and put on her prostate leg. I would have to drive her at least three times a week to get her dialysis because that's what she needed mostly and after she passed away my parents moved in with them so I was mostly in charge of my parents so there needs their food doctors appointments and medication.

I decided to become a care giver because it's simple I loVe helping and to do this job you have to have a heart for it, I was raised around my great grandmother, and my granny and learning and the talks I would have and remember with them just makes me want to help and learn and listen to others with more knowledge then me so that's wat made me wanna be a caregiver, I wanted to help and make this a career so I recently completed my CNA certificate I also have my CPR certificate because I know it's not always going to be just nice conversation, and good days, I want to be prepared for the bad days as well and I know this job comes with those as well but I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world!!! When I was 11 my grandma was on hospice and during the summer I did all of her care and companionship! After she passed till the time I was 18 I volunteered in nursing homes to provide companionship to the elders! Once I turned 18 I have worked in the field of inhome care and facility care! I have also cleaned in facilities! Currently I work in a memory care facility, so I have a lot of experience from that to end of life care!

I've been a caregiver for 8 years. I specialize with individuals with intellectual disabilities as well as physical disabilities. I am a host home provider who provides care for individuals in my home. I tend to work with clients who have a higher needs both medically and behaviorally. I treat my clients as part of my family and love to have fun with them in the community. I first became a caregiver as when I was a little girl, my dad ran a very big charity in texas called The Big Texas Toy Run where we would collect toys for children with intellectual disabilities who's family's were showing times of hardship. We then donated proceeds to various organizations. I volunteered there from age 4 - 18 years old.
