I am a very compassionate and patient caregiver with 22 years of experience helping to care for individuals with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. I began providing care when a close friend of mine needed help caring for her sick mother. I worked with this sweet lady for seven and a half years in which I refined my caregiving skills. The bond that I build with all of my clients is unmistakably genuine and sweet. Over my career I have cared for 15 different people and each one of them and the experiences that we have shared has helped to enrich my ability to care for the next one. I am also a proud mother of two wonderful children and that in itself speaks volume about my ability to care for others. I truly care for my clients as if they were a part of my own family.

I have been a great caregiver for five years. I enjoy caring and talking to the elderly. I have taken care of some of my elderly family members, which I enjoyed. I enjoy running errands, transportation, preparing home-cooked meals, medication reminder and light housekeeping. I always keep my client's information confidential. I am a patient, compassionate, good listener, kind, caring caregiver. I do skilled nursing, wound care, first aid, post surgery care for transitioning patients to homecare. My start in healthcare was volunteering at the Red Cross, church and community outreach , I have worked eight years at the Washtenaw County DHS with CLS/CMH organizations as consumer advocate . I have worked long years managing assisted living facilities, nursing homes, directing memory care units, training, teaching and mentoring. I have earned Bachelor's of Science from EMU and Surgical Technology program from WCC. I am passionate about helping people to better their lives and improve their health.

What makes me a great caregiver is my heart. I have always cared about the well being of others, it makes me happy knowing that I am able to help people. What I like about caregiving is meeting new people, and being able to do all I can to comfort and help. A personal achievement I am really proud of is working with someone with CP. This person was in a wheel chair for a long number of years, this person gave up long ago. I came in and got to help this person and care for them helped with motaviating this person to start exercising and then we started taking small steps, thru out my years of caregiving with this person. I was able to help get this person out of the chair and to start walking again. It made me feel so good to see smiles from my client and the family because of how I dedicated myself to her, I was able to give hope and was able to see my client do somethings on their own. It is definitely a highlight to caregiving.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I am able to relate to the needs of my clients base on individuality. I am very compassionate towards my clients. I try my very best to understand their needs and find a solution to it. I became a caregiver not only to help people who are at a disadvantage but rather because I care about people and enjoy being a part of their lives. For many years I've lived away from my father, but the moment I received a phone call that he had a stroke I dropped everything and went to care for him until he recovered. That alone shows how caring and concern I am about people who are unable to care for themselves. What I like about being a caregiver is the fact that I am able to bring a smile on the faces of my clients no matter what moods they are in for that particular day. I go to an extended mile to make sure that their needs are met and that they are taken good care of and happy. One personal achievement I am proud of is being able to graduate college. Both my parents are illiterate and for me to be the first out of four siblings to go to college and graduate was a very good accomplishment for me. And with what I have learned and experience I will continue to strive in what I love the most; that is helping people.
