Hi my name is Andrekia Brown. To be a great caregiver you have to be confident in your work ethic. Be trustworthy to your clients and yourself. And always be attentive and show compassion to other's feelings and beliefs. I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one on one interaction with others. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver I get to make an enormous difference in people's lives. I get to enjoy being a part of a new family and work from a home environment. A personal achievement I am proud of I just became certified to open my own childcare.

I am very patient, kind, easy going, caring and friendly. I love to communicate with others and keep everyone in happy spirits. I'm very optimistic and try to see the cup half full! Growing up with my grandparents and always wanting to make sure they're well taken care of has attracted me to be a caregiver. I love helping people. I am CPR certified.

I honestly never saw myself as becoming a caregiver. I am very energetic but at the same time I have a very laid back personality. I am very easy to get along with and enjoy meeting and getting to know new people. Most people would say I have a lot patience but I just try to treat people as I would want them to treat me. Back in 2010 I made a decision to move back to Halifax County to be closer to my aging but very active and healthy parents. Not long after the move, we made the decision to allow my intellectually challenged older brother to move in with me. I eventually had to became more active with helping my dad as he started to have health problems and almost simultaneously, my brother's health began to decline. Unfortunately back in 2017, I lost both my dad and brother. Being able to help them with their doctor appointments, medicine and other responsibilities such as hygiene and bathing when it came to my brother, was hard work but an honor. So many people have so many responsibilities that they are not in a position to be a caregiver to their family members when in need. I can truly say from experience it is very rewarding duty. It would be fair to say my experience with my family attracted me to becoming a caregiver. Since, the passing of my brother and father I help my mother out a great deal and having been working with individuals who are intellectually challenged, autistic and deal with various health issues. The thing I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the opportunity to treat and assist a person in need with dignity. This many times is not how we hear people are treated. So the chance to treat someone who may just need a little help or a lot, with dignity and respect is an opportunity and privilege for me. Everyone is someone's mother, father, sister, brother, daughter or son. Being able to help my father remain mostly independent in his final years is probably my greatest achievement and honor.

I consider myself a great caregiver because I love helping people, being able to add to their quality of life and helping them to become independent in certain areas of life. I provide quality care, im dependable and punctual and very caring.

I tend to put myself in other peoples shoes, which causes me to be a little more considerate and patient when helping other people. After high school I always knew I wanted to help people , I began to research and start my journey as a CNA where I knew was great for me. I enjoy making my clients happy making them feel as though they are not alone and have someone more than just family or themselves. I am proud of sticking it out with school even when things have happened.

I am a very conscientiousness person and my goal with every client is to make the best decisions for their care plan. I tend to be able to feel the needs of my clients. I am empathetic and this allows me to pay attention to details others would normally overlook. I have always been a caregiver in some form or another my entire life. I have especially been pulled in by the seniors and babies. I don't like to see my seniors suffer or alone or deficient in any way. It breaks my heart to see them put away like a burden. I truely love when my clients see me and know that they are in good hands. They know that I care. I personal achievements are daily....I make someone smile.
