What makes me a great caregiver I'm passionate about taking care of others. I'm always and willing to lend a hand. I love learning and I'm very attentive to my clients needs and concerns.

I am a great caregiver because I have naturally been one most of my life. I became a caregiver because when I was in high school I began caring for my aunt who was disabled by assisting her with personal and medical needs. Then I was primary caregiver for my grandparents for the last 4 or 5years. I honestly love being a caregiver because it warms my heart to know that those who need assistance are receiving the proper care they need by an individual that will not take advantage of them. I started working for Home instead senior care two years ago and I love seeing individuals light up when I walk through the door and know that someone is there for them. I have a bachelors in social work and a Masters in Public health administration. I have a lot of experience working with people with dementia and disabilities.

I'm a great caregiver because I'm honest dependable and trustworthy. I love helping others and seeing them make progress. I'm a patient dedicated individual. I chose to become a caregiver because I started helping my grandmother and grandfather at a young age. Then when my grandparents passed away I realize that this type of work was something I have a passion for that I want to continue to do throughout my life . My goal is to help others and see the positive outcomes, in their life.

I am very patient with my clients. Some clients with dementia requires repetition of instructions constantly and I believe that I have the patience and understanding to explain instructions and assist patients in situations like this. Because, I love to teach and help others. I also put myself in my client position, if a member of my family is in this situation, I would want to have someone who is companionate and understanding to their needs.

I am a great caregiver because I go above and beyond for my patients. I have been doing this for over 12 years. I love the elderly because they all remind me of my own parents and they always have something new to teach me. I enjoy the fact that my patients always treat me with love and respect. We grow to become family. One of my greatest accomplishments was when I got my HHA certificate because I knew that's what I was meant to do in this life.

I started caregiving without knowledge that I was caregiving! My grandmother was ill and needed some assistance with managing her ADLs. No questions, no comments, I was there. Once she went to glory, I decided that I wanted to become a caregiver and haven't looked back since. My clients know that I never mind taking the extra step, knowing that sometimes it is the "little things" that count. I take pride in my clients knowing that their safety and comfort is my number one priority, and seeing them smile and acknowledge when you have put them in a better standing.

Loving caring

I genuinely love to nurture and care for others. From childhood on, I knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field so that I might be able to help those in need. Due to adverse conditions, I was unable to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse, so I initially became a CNA and later became a Medical Assistant. I thoroughly enjoy the comaraderie and direct contact of both positions. As a Medical Assistant, I learned how to draw blood, give injections, vitals, laboratory procedures.....so worked in this field until relocating to Raleigh, NC. There was such a great need for CNAs at that time so I decided to branch out on my own work as private duty caregiver. Since doing so, I have been blessed with wonderful clients, and word of mouth from previous clients has certainly contributed to my success. I am proud of making the decision to become my own boss, and having the initiative and desire to do so. My last private duty assignment ended in April after eighteen months of caring for an Alzheimers' client that ultimately passed away. I grew to love her dearly, and will always hold a special place in my heart for her. Currently, I am doing fill-in work, but am seeking a full time caregiving position.

Hello, my name is Melissa Barnes. I have been providing direct care services for over 20 years. I provide the best care possible by treating clients as thought they are part of my family. I am CPR and First Aide certified, also familiar with administering medication. I enjoy getting out of the house and showing my clients different things to do such as going to the movies and going to the park.
