Whoever wants to take a chance with me, would not be, disappointed.

I am a Licensed Practical Nurse based between New York and New Jersey. I have experience working with the elderly and believe in quality, compassionate care. Working as a nurse in a nursing home, I learned first-hand about diseases and disorders such as dementia, Alzheimer's, diabetes, stroke, etc. Not only did I gain the clinical skills to care for people with such illnesses, but I also learned the value of true empathy. I created wonderful relationships with my patients, patient families, and CNAs. When I resigned from my job at the nursing home, my coworkers and all my patient families wrote me heart warming letters and sent me off with love. Maintaining a positive attitude is key when dealing with people who are suffering, and that is a quality that comes natural to me. I believe all human beings deserve competent and dignified care. I work hard to ensure that my patients understand that they have and deserve my respect, and that their ailments do not make them less of a person. My nursing background ensures safety consciousness, and my warm personality ensures a positive atmosphere. Our seniors have a lot of wisdom to share and have full lives to share stories about, and I would love to offer a listening ear and helping hand to an elder in need.

I have many years of nursing experience working with Seniors in their homes. Helping them to maintain their dignity & independence is so important. I love the one on one because you are able to give them your undivided attention. Always smile, be kind and understanding not only with the client but with the family as well. It is a difficult time for them as well. You have to be compassionate. Being a caregiver is not "a job", it's part of you.
Since I was a very young girl I have always known that I would be a caregiver. I watched my grandmother take care of the elderly at the Senior Citizens Center in Harlem,NY and I helped her which gave me satisfaction. The fact that I'm able to assist and provide a needed service to those in need is very rewarding. I'm most proud of my daughter who is now attending college for her RN. I am dependable, resourceful and am a good listener.
I became interested in the healthcare field while serving as a missionary in Guatemala where I worked with poor people living in the mountains, garbage dumps, and street children hooked on glue. Many times after serving I would come home crying because of the plight of the people I serve but I love reaching out to help others and served for four years. Here in New York City at one time I also worked with homeless people living in shelters and in the parks. I have worked in nursing homes in Florida and in homecare in New York City. I love being a caregiver, impacting humanity in a positive way as I help to improve and maintain health. Each and every individual that I serve is important to me and I treat him/her with respect, and dignity. I am a hard worker, patient, kind hearted, honest, and reliable. I attended college and the knowledge and skills I received in school have equipped me with the means to better care for clients. I have cared for clients on ventilator, G-tube feeding, trache, and foley catheter. I have assisted with meal preparation, laundry, and housekeep. I do not drive, I don't drink or use drugs.
