I choose to be a caregiver because I wanted to do something in my career that is challenging, interesting, and makes a difference in people's lives daily. My life's journey has always been linked to helping other people; I just never saw it as serving them. As I have grown to know myself, I have discovered that I have this huge heart that wants the best for myself and for others. I now live to serve, and this brings me great fulfillment.

Hello and Welcome to my profile! I'm Erica Sims. I currently reside in the New Haven, CT area. I enjoy meditation, reading, writing, yoga, pilates, and finding new things to learn. I love being able to help the senior women in my community get the best quality care at home. I'm reliable, dependable, and compassionate towards the people I serve. My mother passed away suddenly back in 2007. I never got to say goodbye or even go through a sick process. I had no idea she was even ill from a heart condition. My dad passed 4 years later from lung cancer. He was stubborn and didn't like that fact he needed help. Since I wasn't able to help my parents I found peace in helping other people's love ones get the help that they need. I know most people have families of their own to look after and can't provide the daily care that their ailing love ones need. I would like to help with that. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is hearing my clients response to the question 'What are you grateful for today?' and their answer is You. I love knowing that I am taking care of them emotionally, mentally, as well as their physical needs. They trust the safe, caring, and compassionate environment I create. I've obtained Dementia Care, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's Disease & Home Health Aide Certificate. In May 2019, I became certified as a Health & Life Coach with advanced skills in Heart Disease, Weight loss & Diabetes. So I can broaden my skills to better help my clients. A self-drive individual who has the passion to work hard and care for others. I was raise to respect others especially my elderly so doing good for people who are unable to do for themselves motivates me and give me a sense of ssatisfaction. I really enjoy putting a smile on someone else's face and hearing a simple thank you, put a smile on my face. A personal achievement I am proud of is being a mother to 2 vibrant boys.

What makes me a better care giver is that, I have love and a lot of patience for my patients, I am honest, hardworking, and caring. Care giving job needs someone who is able to endure and overcome obstacles that come their way without giving up, or not taking the opportunity to abuse the patients and shouting at the them. I took care of my grandmother and some of my nephews and if I did not have patience, I couldn't have been able to do it.

I truly enjoy being a caregiver. I am very caring , and compassionate. Once I start working with a family I am very dedicated, dependable and loyal. I love been a caregiver Because of my grandma, I took care of her when she was sick and that made me develop the love in taking care of the elderly.

I became a caregiver because I took care of my dad and grandma before they passed away and I felt it was my calling to do so. I really can't see myself in any other field but medical field. What I like about being a caregiver is helping those who can't help themselves. My personal achievement is that I just finished a class in C.N.A training course and I'm looking forward to continue to upgrade in the medical field
