In essence, it's about making small changes to your everyday life to make major beneficial changes to someone with an intellectual disability. Seeing them respond to their new environment - and the care and love that shapes it - provokes a feeling that must be experienced to be believed. And there's simply no reward quite like watching the smile emerge and hearing their laughter. I've being a caregiver for more then 10 years now. I used to volunteer for nursing home and other activity when I was in the age of 19 so that's how i was encouraged to become a caregiver. I love to socialize,read, swim,meet new people and play sports.

I'm a caregiver who is honest dependable never late for work, I love what I do I take passion in caring for my clients. I have been a care giver for 37 years. I became interested in being a caregiver when a lady ask me for help she told me that she was not able to bathe herself. which I did help her and did not take any money from her she thanked me. So after that I assisted her with her care when I could and helped her to find more help. that is when I decided that this is what I wanted to do. I like seeing their faces when they get the help that they need just seeing that smile on their face is priceless. My personal achievement that I'm so proud of. I worked with this lady who wanted to work part time I found her a job which she had to volunteer for a week to see if she was able to do the work. I assisted her showing her what she needed to do. after 3 days she was offered the job I was so proud of her. she worked part time at the job and later was offered a supervisory position.

Hi, my name is Cassandra but everyone calls me Cassie! I have helped take care of my grandfather, who has had dementia for over 10 years. When I moved away to school last fall, I began working as a direct care worker for a company, but found that I like private home healthcare better. My time with the two families I helped while away at school was amazing, and I was sad to leave them when I returned home for summer break. I have worked extensively with dementia patients, and I have experience with patients who have MS. I am very compassionate, patient, and hardworking and I truly care about the people I help. The thing I enjoy most about being a caregiver is that each person I help teaches me something new, and I love hearing their stories and learning about their lives.

I had a stroke and it was bad. I lived but I was in a wheelchair and can't talk for 1 1/2 years. My towboat days where gone. I used to be a River Captain and navigated the Mississippi River for years. I learned fire fighting, time sheets, CPR, and helps men off of tow when they had a stroke and a heart attack. I know may business! Said than, I only have a left arm and truing too do with one arm want I do with too arms. Since then, I learned to cook, clean, laundry, take care of my personal care, etc. I am 62 years old but I consider myself young at heart! Please give me a change too prove myself.
