Because I took care of my grandparents. I love to help elderly people and do for them like if their my own. And to become a nurse. I'm single with no kids , was certified for 15 years love my Job at tidepointe on Hilton head island. Been with the company for 9 years. Left there in 2017 for emergency. Did private care a client for 3 years. She pass away, then I started working at life care nursing home.

I became a caregiver because of my mother, At the age of 10 my mother died and I couldn't do nothing to help her. So I decided to get in the medical field for that reason. I love being a caregiver because it is a passion of mine to see people smile, and live there life to the fullest. Some of my achievements are attending school for certification, and also I am now enrolled in school for Health Information Systems and Business Administration. I chose this field because I want to make sure the patients get the treatment, respect, and etc they deserve. I want to see people that take care of these patients act professionally, and treat the patients like the way they (caregivers) would want to be treated. Everybody tells me I have a wonderful personality, and they can tell I care about the patients needs. I like to have fun, spending time with family. I am here to help. Hello my name is Lakashia I have been a CNA for over 15 years now. I have a passion for helping out the elderly to make things a little easier for them. I'm experience with working with individuals that has Alzheimer's and Dementia.

I never thought about being a caregiver. But I was asked by a friend if I could spend some time and help out with her Grandmother. I had no experience in this area, but I instantly fell in love with my "client". In the beginning, she was able to do some things for herself, even with the dementia.She enjoyed being on the front porch, even though when we got back in the house, she wouldn't remember it. She loved spraying herself off after a shower. And she loved her ice cream. But as time went on she got weaker and weaker. When she was ill enough to be put in a nursing home for more intense care, I decided that this was something I was good at and enjoyed doing. So I went to school to obtain my CNA license. When my "little lady" was returned home, it was just a matter of keeping her comfortable. But she was still in good spirits. I wasn't there the day she passed, because my Dad passed the day before. Working in assisted living was an easier pace, and it seems more attention is paid to the clients. I worked in the Dementia unit which presents it's own set of situations. But the clients I worked for were wonderful people. It wasn't hard to have a smile on my face everyday just being around them, even though some days could be pretty intense. I've always said I would treat any "client", "patient", as family. The way I would take care of my own. And I found that out in Oct of last year, when I was fortunate enough to take care of my own Mother as she struggled with cancer, it was an honor to be with her through her last days. I've held the hand of a few of my "family" of people, including my own Mother as they have left this world. And just knowing that I was able to give them some peace and some comfort to me is what makes me enjoy this job, even with the sorrow that comes with it. I'm looking to have a one on one position. I would like to be close to the Antioch/Brentwood, Tenn area, I just moved here and I'm still getting acquainted with the area.

Caregiving is in my heart, I have been taking care of people for over 27 years and I love it. I have a heart for people. My greatest achivement professionally is the ability to understand people and to help people in need, to understand words that aren't spoken, I currently work for a Hospice company for the last 6 years being a CNA is one of my greatest gifts. Why I became a caregiver my best friend passed away from HIV and I wanted to take care of people like they took care of her. I'm also a CHPNA Certified Hospice Palliative Care Nursing Assistant 2018
