My name is Guadalupe Villanueva, am 38 years old! I have been a CNA since 2000 i have always enjoyed being around the elderly, but i never knew there was a career about it until i moved to Austin , soon I started working at New Hope Manor where i had the opportunity to work hands on training!! I loved it, and then I started working as a Restorative Aide at a Nursing Home where i was working under the supervision of physical and occupational therapist I really enjoyed this job, cause it gave me a lot of satisfaction seeing my patients progress and being more independent!! I have also worked at the Alzheimer's units for 2 years , and Now I work as a Medication Technician and have really enjoyed what i have learned in one year, but it really doesn't fill my need of enjoying a good talk with them which is what enjoy the most, they have a lot to share!!

I became a caregiver when my grandmother needed someone to help her with household chores, errands, cooking, bathing, and help assist with going to the bathroom. After she passed away, I wanted to continue helping other people, and began working at an assisted living center for residents with Dementia and Alzheimer's. I love providing care, but also allowing them to still have their sense of independence. I am very passionate about giving people the quality of life, and I do whatever I can to maintain that. A personal achievement I am proud of is taking a leap and moving across the country by myself. I love to explore life, and find beauty in something everyday.

The joy I brought to my grandmother when I would spend time talking with her and helping her with errands and those simple tasks, like cooking or walking she once could do on her own was very rewarding to me. At that point in my life at the age sixteen I knew I would become a care giver. Being a care giver is very rewarding . It brings so much joy into your life when you see Those who need help happy. I go the extra mile in everything I do. For example, there was a time when I was taking care of a woman who was bed bound. I worked with her for months and she started to walk and the family was very proud of both of us. I'm a very hard working person who is caring, compassionate, and honest; someone you can trust and rely on. I'm funny and easy going.
