Hello my name is Demeteries Hawkins. I've been a Patient Care Assistant for over 20 years. Growing up being the oldest of 6 siblings I had to be the caregiver due to my mother working long hours as a nurse. In my adult life I've had many jobs but no fulfillment until I started caring for others. I found my purpose and calling. I truly enjoy/ love being a caregiver it brings so much joy and self gratification. My mother played a big part of why I love being a caregiver. seeing the love, she gave, and the return love played a big roll. It feels good to know that I have gained a client trust as well as the assurance that I will take care of them. To see them smile or just help them through a rough day knowing that they can count on me is a great reward. I've had a client I had just started with ask me, is this just a job or do you care? I care about what I do. This is one of the biggest questions that a client or family member has when looking for a caregiver. Staying positive, going beyond the call of duty, compassionate, caring, outgoing, patience, etc. To have the opportunity to care for your loved one or self would be a privilege and a blessing.

Empathy, I strive to treat all my patients/clients the way I would like to be treated by others. I believe in helping others that's what encourage me to be a caregiver, started out in California my first job was working at a long term care facility, as a Nurse aide at monte vista care center in Montclair CA where I took my CNA class and got my certificate in august 1991. From then I continuously working as a CNA at different facilities, hospitals, and private homes. I love what I do and with experiences that I have I know I can provide the superb care to my patients, clients, your loved ones.

I am a loving and Compassionate person. I started taking of my grand mother at the age 15yrs old and she is 92, so that is what motivated me to be a caregiver and pursue the career. I enjoy it because it is a work that require human conscience and it remind me that' one day I will be old. It is call to serve God through humanity it is not just a profession. You need patience and tolerance to accommodate the elderly. The quality of care I will give determination how long their lifespan will live especially for the hospice patients ,and for the dementia and Alzheimer's patient, it require a lot of strategy and knowledge of the stage and how to handle them. For bed bound or disable they need total care service.

my grandmother is my inspiration for doing what i do..giving care i love doing what God has given me the skills to do in caring for all in need of care... i have not only been a certified nUrse aide for 20 years but as well finished pharmacy tech with i v mixture certification 2006 and phlembotomy certified 2015 i am a happy person ...have traveled outside of USA and looking forward to doing so again ..give all glory to GOD (keeping Him 1st) just love people i cant stress it enough how much i enjoy taking care of anyone in need( especially my elders i highly respect) note(holidays pay time and a half*)

Growing up have always wanted to be a helper to people around me and to put smiles on others' faces by pursuing my nursing career. I am a nursing student and I recently graduated with my Associates Degree with my major being Nursing. I enjoy being a caregiver as it helps me connect with different people in life both elderly and young.
