I am a 31 year old graduate student at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. I am currently completing my internship at a facility for individuals who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. I believe I am a great caregiver because I am open and honest with the individuals I work with as well as compassionate, kind, detail oriented and hardworking. While I do not have specific experience working as a caregiver, I do have experience working with adults with various mental and physical illnesses as an independent living skills counselor and community support specialist where I assisted with daily living skills in areas such as household management and interpersonal relationships. I enjoy working with clients and creating a relationship with them that will last for years to come.

Both of my parents are seniors and I find it rewarding to work with elderlies. It has been my passion to help people who needs extra care, assisting with their activities of daily living and make their lives more worthy and lively as they age and I want them to age gracefully and happy just like what I am practicing in my own life, to live in a positive way. They deserve someone who will take care of them on a daily basis or depending on their needs.

I'm a sympathetic and empathetic person. I've always loved working with children and elderly from a young age. When I was in elementary school I use to be apart of a club that went to a nursing home once a week. We provided companionship for them. I've always been drawn to helping/caring for others. I've had several different nannying jobs on top of daycare jobs. But I've also always wanted to get involved with working with elderly again. From 2009-2012 I helped my family care for my very sick grandmother on and off. Until 2011 I lived out of state, but when I came back was when I was able to help more. My grandmother fought stage 4 ovarian cancer from May 2009 until she passed in November 2012. So, I'm used to being around someone sick and helping them out with something as simple as cleaning. Back when she still lived on her own I'd go over to her house at least twice a week to help with cleaning, cooking , watering her plants, or even gives keeping her company. Once she got too ill to live alone, she came to live with my family and I for a good 6 months. So, providing care for her became a daily part of my routine. I've always been attracted to being some sort of caregiver. It is truly my life passion to help others. I enjoy getting to know the people, knowing I can help make their day or even bring a little light back into their life by helping them or providing companionship.

I became a caregiver because i love helping others. Knowing that i can be one of the people their lives to make them smile, in some cases, unfortunately, I may be the ONLY one there to make a difference in their lives. Personal achievement would be graduating last year from Kaplan University as a medical assistant. Being a single mother of two i did run into bumps in the road and had a few srruggles but it was all worth it in the end. I'm a hard worker, if i dont know something i am always ready and willing to learn, get along w
