I'm a very easy going person, I've been a CNA over 20 plus years. I treat my clients as though we're family or the way I want my mother to be treated. What attracted my to caregiving, was having compassion for others. I most enjoy about caregiving is getting to know my clients and/or their family. My personal achievement is loving the care I give and knowing I'm doing my best.

My career as a caregiver began with taking care of both my parents. My father had cancer and my mother had dementia. I was working as well while taking care of my parents. After they passed away and in 2012 my job where I was working was outsourced, I decided I wanted to make a career of being a caregiver. I went to CTK Healthcare and Career Institute to obtain my CNA certification. Since 2013 to current I have worked privately and with agencies as a caregiver. My skills and duties are to perform light housekeeping, light meal preparations, assist with shower and dressing, medication reminders, assist with shopping for groceries and putting them away, assist with pet care, and companionship. I enjoy interacting with my clients and helping them have a safe, healthy , and clean environment to live in. I understand the challenges of caretaking as well as the stress of a loved one's health changes and needs changing from taking care of my parents. I find great joy in life being there for others and help make there day less stressful.

I am Joshlyn. I have been a private caretaker for several years. I have assisted patients with all aspects of daily care, including dressing/undressing, checking vital signs, bathing, personal hygiene, transferring to and from bed, skin care and various other duties. I have administered oral and IV medication as prescribed by an attending physician on a daily basis. I have maintained records of patient care, condition, progress, and problems, in order to report and discuss observations with family members and physicians. I accompany clients to doctors' offices and on other trips outside the home, providing transportation, assistance and companionship. I maintained sterile fields, application of dressings to a stage 4 decubitus ulcer. I assisted patients with basic activities of daily living, including changing of bed linens, washing laundry, preparing nutritious meals and doing basic housekeeping. My love and passion is in direct patient care (one-on-one). I'm amazing in what I do.

Empathy and compassion. By showing both empathy and compassion gives me edge to know when they are changes in their status. What attracted me to be a caregiver is nothing but having passion for it. Trying to put smile on the face of anyone seeking care. Using other non pharmacological ways to alleviate pain and always having a reason to laugh together. What I enjoy being a caregiver is knowing fully well I'm doing those things they can't do for themself and redirecting them. Knowing that I got their back. My personal achievement is my academic background. I have complete nursing program in abroad and I'm on the process to get licenced here by Gods grace. So it gives me more insight on the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Finally in God I trust.

I found myself needing to care for my mom who fell broke her neck. She became quadriplegic. To keep her from going to a nursing home. My only daughter was 2. My oldest brother needed my help, no question I was there. These were very good years. I have worked in commission sales and real estate for over 20 years. I used a Hoyer lift it was invaluable, people must learn about lifting equipment. So not to injure their backs. I prefer to work in Denton with in 4 miles. I have a pleasing attitude and look for the same I understand difficult times and prefer not to dwell on them. I try to look towards more positive endeavors. I am open to helping care for a special needs person.

I am patience, compassion to other. I have a great sense of humor. I'm detail oriented, I will learn how to take care of my patients. What attracted me to being a caregiver honestly it all started with my grandma help her once she had 2 hip replacement and she is a diabetic, every since then I knew it was my passion. Help her, talking to other, listening to the stories of there lives amazing feeling so much wisdom. A personal achievement I am most proud of is receiving my Ged when I quit school so young.
