Since I was a young girl, whether it be for my loved ones or the underprivileged, I have always had an innate concern for those in need. My inherent compassion for the livelihood challenges of others has developmentally led me to pursue an educational life-long career as a guidance counselor and health-care provider. What I have learned in my experience, when caring for any individual, is that each person's needs are distinct and should not be identified as like any other individual. When an individual is challenged in any capacity, demonstrating you care in getting to know them as a person, their strengths and limitations with personable kindness, compassion, and patience, can make all the difference to the individual and the family members who depend on you as an extension of themselves. Sometimes a simple smile can make a person feel more relaxed and willing to work with you as a caregiver to aid them with their inability of managing their own lives on their own. I'm a very empathetic person, and I'm drawn to caregiving because I love helping people. The thing I enjoy about being a caregiver is seeing a smile on a client's face when I've done something to make them feel great. One of the things that I am most proud of is being able to say that I serve my country...it's an honor.

What I believe that makes me a good caregiver is the fact that I truly believe that whatever we do in life, it will come back to us, therefore if I treat someone with love, kindness, and respect, I will receive the same when it is my turn to receive the same care. When I first became a CNA I enjoyed the interaction I had with my patients. Then I later realized how great is the need for the elderly to receive care, and sadly not many people are interested in this type of job. So I decided to educate myself in medical related issues pertaining to the elderly care. One thing that I'm most proud is that I used my skills to personally care for my own mother, as well as my mother in law before they passed away.
