I Became a caregiver because I had nobody to care for my mother who was involved in a tragic road accident, and we did not have funds to hire a nurse at home. I started of in the caregiving field with taking care of my grandfather. In the process I got to learn a lot and I did enjoy doing it. I treat every client like my own family with love and compassion. Every client had different needs, so I get to understand the client first and foremost. I mostly enjoy the learning process in caregiving, no matter how long one has been a caregiver, we get to learn new things every time. I once had a client who had dementia (late stage), who did not want to go to bed (it was late at night). One thing that the client enjoyed was watching animal documentaries . I showed the client pictures of different animals that I had taken when I went to Kenya and the client calmed down and I was able to redirect the client to bed. My patience with the client helped me assure the client that I was on her side. This scenario really made me proud of the caregiver that I'm becoming. I love what I do.

I love what I do as a caregiver, I love helping out or making vulnerable people feel cared for, loved and comfortable by all means because they deserve quality life. I love adding value to people's lives. Being a caregiver I am able to interact directly with my clients and this way I get to know them better and in this way I am able to deliver quality care. I once helped my grandpa at his old age even without any skills of caregiving by then. I ensured he had a quality life by attending to his needs and being his companion and this made him happy
