Assisting the elderly has become something that I am very passionate about, I treat my clients as they are part of my own family, with lots of respect and diginity, everyone deserves to be treated this way. It's hard to talk about ourselves but I'll give it a try, I was introduced to caregiving by a family member since that day I went and got my self in school to get my cna certification later on I also received my dsp certification. This career is very rewarding for me, helping people and providing support to the people that needed the most is what I enjoy doing the most. I personally like watching movies, going on walks, and cooking.

I am naturally maternal being the oldest of 3 boys and being the only girl in my family. I don't have any kids of mine own so being a caregiver fulfills those maternal needs in a way of providing care to others. I love to cook and give my residents a great meal. What attracted me to being a caregiver was the growth within the companies that I can continue on with. Also caregiving just came naturally to me because I helped take care of my grandpa who was in his late 80's from the ages of 13-adulthood I helped take care of my great grandpa who lived with us. I carried that into my job field, and it just came naturally to me. I enjoy being a person there who they trust and know they can count of for good quality care. Nothing makes me more happy than hearing "thank god you're here" because that feeling of being trusted by my residents to make the right choices and be there for them really means a lot to me. A personal achievement I have is learning how to bake and cook better for my resident's. Also becoming ultimately stronger as a person when handling these intense emergency situations, they'll prepare you for the real world and real scenarios and that has made me more confident in my day to day life.

I am one of the most empathic and outgoing people you will meet. I have always worked with others and have a big heart when it comes to giving care, and have based my career around this. I was attracted to being a caregiver after I took care of my grandfather on hospice. I realized how much of a change someone can make, and it hurt my heart knowing some people aren't lucky enough to have family to do it. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the change that you can make in peoples lives. You are making day to day so much easier and more comfortable for both your patient and their family, and that's amazing. A personal achievement I am proud of is studying for my degree while also working fulltime. I have been a fulltime student while working fulltime for the past 3 semesters of college, while taking summer classes and classes over break. I think it's a great example of my ethics and drive!

I think I was born to be a caregiver. I started out running my own daycare out of my home. When my parents were elderly I took care of them. I took in foster children and also did Options for recovery and took in new borns that were exposed to drugs due to their parents addiction. I've had many caregiver jobs plus worked with mentally disabled adults. I'm very compassionate and treat my clients as family. People say I have a calming way when it comes dementia and Alzheimer's clients. I love my work wholeheartedly. I have had my CNA license for 6 years, and I did home health for 10 years, with a few extra training courses including, Dementia & Alzheimer's training, wound care, medicine and 1 year internship for Mortuary School. I am a quick learner and follow instructions given. I keep a daily log of all events, meds given, and give full daily reports when requested. I am aware of all HIPPA laws and abide by them. I am reachable at all times on or off the work schedule provided. I am willing to work extra hours/shifts in all situations.
