The reason I become a caregiver because I enjoy taking care of the elderly, sick, and handicapped. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is it helps me greatly and gives me the courage to take care of my son who is autistic. I became a caregiver first and foremost for the flexibility of the the job. When my kids were younger, this career gave me the opportunity to be home with them and work nights. I moved on to becoming an Administrative Assistant for more than 18 years. I was laid off from my job due to the last recession and I jumped back on my skills to continue giving care to the elderly. I was a valuable support for my clients, helping then with all the activities of their daily living, I cooked and served meals, I assisted with medications, I shopped for food and personal items, I provided transport/ accompanied clients to doctor's appointments. I was with one of my clients last year and realized that she needed to go to the hospital. I called the emergency service and stayed with her at the hospital till the family made alternative arrangement. When she was later discharged, I stayed and cared for her till she passed. I have now become a trusted friend of the family.

I am a very empathetic, compassionate and patient person. I enjoy working with the disabled, sick, elderly, children and anyone that can use the right nourishment and care. I'm extremely proud of my self because I didn't think I could do this with a busy schedule and so much dedication, but it has come natural to me to devote so much time and love into caring and spending time with my clients. It fills my heart to give families that peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are in good hands professionally and emotionally. I really enjoy what I do.

I am a caregiver who likes to demonstrate empathy and compassion for senior. Supporting the patient's family members, who may be struggling to cope with their loved one's decline. I feel the desire to want to help as a caregiver will, I'll let the family and the patient know that I care about them.
