My caregiving experience began with the birth of my first child. Beyond the expected hurdles of parenthood, there were years of weekly specialist appointments, daily nebulizer treatments, physical therapy, and a great deal of research. I was grateful to encounter many doctors and nurses willing to explain their work and answer my questions. As family members and friends encountered health problems, I became counsel and occasional medic. When loved ones, mine and those of others, have had extended hospital stays and long recoveries, my support has often been requested. When extended stays have brought those affected to sit with mortality, I have sat and faced it with them.

I just finished my nurse aide class at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with an A average. I received my Masters of Education degree in 2021 with a specialization in early childhood education. Since 2014 I have held numerous roles working with children and the elderly. These roles have ranged from after school counselor/site director, lead teacher, behavior technician, online ESL teacher, Direct Support Professional, Home Health Aide, Temporary Nurse Aide, Care Pro, Care Manager, Care Associate and Nurse Aide. As a young adult watching my grandmother fight cancer and being a part of her caregiving experience I realized the need for so many out there who needed assistance and that began my search for individuals I could help. I am the oldest child of 8, a mother, former preschool teacher, and have taken care of others nearly my entire life. From friends recovering from surgeries and other medical procedures to family members fighting for their lives and my many students with heath issues and extreme limitations and restrictions over the years...nothing brings me the joy and fulfillment that taking care of others brings.
