I decided to get my CNA as a way to exercise my abilities to be a caregiver to others. I have since begun other ventures in life, but still hold a special place in my heart for caregiving

Good Morning. My name is Tamara Gossett. I have been an active CNA for 21 years and Med Tech for 15 years. I have been caring for people since I was younger. I grew up helping take care of my older family members. I love being a CNA. I get joy in knowing that I can provide great care for others in need. I take pride in the work I do. I know that at the end of my day I have did my job to the best of my ability and provided quality care. I enjoy the interaction I can have with my clients. I have met a lot of different people, I have heard wonderful, happy, silly, sad, and amazing stories from my clients. Being a CNA is not just a job for me but it is my career.

My experience as a caregiver has included private home care, volunteer hospice service, taking care of my own family members, and working professionally in a skilled nursing facility as an occupational therapy assistant. I love helping people reach their goals and accomplish tasks that are meaningful and important to them.

I am a breast cancer survivor. Going through that experience (chemo, surgery, radiation) gave me a perspective I had not previously experienced. I am a genuinely sincere person who enjoys helping others. I work hard and listen carefully. I am reliable and have a firm understanding of how important reliability is to those expecting you to be there when you say and do what you say. I have worked as a Social Worker in health care for many years and have the ability to assess a home environment and see where the needs are to assist adequately and make helpful recommendations to promote independence. My husband has his own business and I help to manage that business but miss being able to work with others. I think it is fulfilling when you have the ability to assist someone and make their day just a little easier. I enjoy seeing the transformation on an individuals face when you arrive to help with their needs and they seem worn out and discouraged but after you have helped them, listened to what they had to say, and validated them by doing things their way then you see them energized and smiling. That is the most rewarding feeling. I have several personal achievements that I am proud of I went to college and have a Bachelor's degree and did that while raising children, I have helped my granddaughter achieve her goals to go to college and become a nurse, and I have had a successful happy marriage for 31 years now.

I have been in health care for over 20 years. Caring for all ages and abilities. I started as a CNA, bathing, feeding, dressing and walking. I, went back to school to become a medication aide where I passed medication and medication reminders and Range of motion assistance . I went on to train in wound care where I did wound care treatments. And on to health unit coordinator where I put in doctors orders. I would now prefer to work more one on one with residents so I am more able to focus solely on them and needs.
