I've been a caregiver for more than 30 years. I care about people and I feel like God has given me a gift. I love to talk so I pretty much can get a patient to try must things that a family member can't get them to to to. I love to read and interact with them if it's just a game cards.

My name is Emma Gutierrez. I have lived in Dime Box, Texas my entire life. I'm a very patient, companionate and nurturing person naturally. I've always wanted to help others in ways that are much bigger than myself. I enjoy meeting new clients and building bonds with them. Most of all learning from them.

I am capable of being a great care giver because I am attentive and not judgemental. I became a caregiver by accident, my mother lost her memory with little warning, (she was handing her own affairs well and within a few days she was incapable of managing her own affairs), and soon after lost her ability to walk, at the time I was unemployed and so became a caregiver. In spite of not having given this line of work any previous consideration. Becoming a caregiver for people outside my family acquainted me with how other people lived. My interest has always been people and spending a considerable amount of time in homes, allows me insights that other jobs don't give. Growing up I always enjoyed my grandmother recalling the life experiences that made her the type of person she was. I take pride in being a unique individual and not being just like everyone else. I am not just a member of a collective.

I am an outgoing mom that loves to cook. I have spent most of my life caring for others, my mom cared for my grandparents and I loved to go help and started staying and caring for them at the age of 13. I would help with light household duty's and cooking as they could not stand long to do it. I started helping care for my brother at 14 when he broke his neck in a car accident and became an incomplete quad. I got certified as a nurses aide when I was 17 and started working in nursing homes and caring for in home patients. I love to talk and learn from their experiences and get to know all kind of different people. I stepped back from the workforce when my first daughter was born and miss it dearly and am ready to return to helping others in need.

I am a Christian and love helping those who need assistance. After caring for my fiance's bed bound Uncle for 2 years back in 2013, I found myself going to night school to get into the Medical Field, so I could do more for patients like him. The entire time I was putting myself through night school, I took care of a few other disabled elderly neighbors. While working at NCMC hospital, and then wirh a Gastroenterologist office, I did not feel I was where God wanted and needed me. After speaking with the doctor I was working for ( and his wife ), they pointed me in a direction to help hospice clients. I finally felt I was where God wanted me. In December of 2019, after my sister passed away from cancer, my Mom called and asked me to come home. She said she needed me to help her during her surgeries. I didn't hesitate. I sold my house and moved up here to Fayetteville to help my brother with our Mom. 6 months later she passed, and I found myself right back in Home Health Care. I have always gone where I was needed and wanted. The appreciation the clients show me, just from the way their eyes smile at me, that pulls me right back to where I feel I belong. My apologies for not being available on the weekends. I was blessed with becoming a grandmother, shortly after my Mom passed, so my weekends are pretty much taken up by my precious Grandson. Monday - Friday, if I am open, I would love to step in and help. Remember, no matter where you are in this walk of life, God has a plan for each and everyone of us.
