Greetings! I fell in love with caregiving while attending travel school, and working for an elderly man in his home. My passion for caregiving comes from growing up in a large family and always having people around me of all ages. I adored my grandparents, and had the pleasure of caring for all of my older siblings children before having 2 of my own. When I lost my grandparents, I decided that I wanted to spend my time around seniors, helping them to remain in their homes as long as possible. It has been a 35 year career for me, and I enjoy it more every day! The personalities of my clients are so varied and so valuable, and the knowledge and humor I have witnessed has been truly priceless. I hope I can somehow give back as much as I have been given.

I first realized my calling was to be in healthcare after my daughter was born and diagnosed w a rare genetic disorder. Going through many healthcare providers and tests was a nightmare- then we stumbled across 1 who changed everything and was an emence blessing. That's when I decided I wanted to be that ray of light for someone. So I went to school to become a medical assistant but the long hours required werent allowing me to be a mom to my young "special needs" child. I have been my daughters caregiver and she is now 12 and in middle school with a "one on one" aide w her at school. The last 3 years I have helped my grandpa cook, clean, bath, transportation and kept a calendar for him w reminders of what he needs to do. Since my grandma passed he has needed more help. He now has a live in aide and I still visit but he doesn't need me as he did before.

I have worked with different clients and I have worked at a facility, adult family home, and one on one care. Caregiver is a great job that helps me to meet with different people and see the world in a different way. Being able to help another person is what I always wanted since I was young. Being a caregiver gave me an understanding of what other people go through. I even decided to pursue my education in public health because I wanted to learn different ways to help people. I have been a caregiver for almost 3 years now and I love it.

\"Why is patience so important\" \"Because it makes us pay attention\". Paulo Coelho. I'm very glad of having the chance of knowing that today. In fact ,as a caregiver learning to stay great in my everyday assignments and in order for me to comply with my motto , learning to love without judging no matter how; having patience was that unexplainable energy to my success. It has given me to capability to accept others so I could understand them just as I have known them for a long time. By understanding them I have leaned and develop skills to help those I'm caring for. Also by helping I have realized changes in their their daily life which renew their hope in life again . I'm so great full for having such job not just for providing care but also being someone daily companion.

I always wanted a job where I was going to be able to help others. There's nothing I enjoy the most than to make a difference in others life. I still have both of my parents, and everything I do is to help them. The day they need the assistance of a caregiver or someone to help them with their needs; who better than me to take care of them. That's why I always tread my clients how I would like others to tread my parents. I'm proud of who I'm and of everything I have done by my self.
