What makes me a great caregiver is that I am a; hard worker, honest/open, passionate, punctual, reliable, kind/caring, compassionate, good listener/communicator, and organized. I want to be a caregiver because I have a passion for helping others, and through my time in this position I have come to love caring for the elderly. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is forming relationships, and shared experiences of joy and sorrow.

I am a great caregiver because I understand that one of the most important parts included in the care provided to an individual is companionship. Companionship is such an important part in care because a real human connection helps with mental and emotional well being. Taking care of physical well being is incredibly important but is only half the job. I learned this while caring for my grandmother near the end of her life. My experience started with her and moved on to caring for a wonderful woman named Majorie until she had to go into assisted living. After that I got a job working at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. Each person I have cared for has taught me so much about doing my job better. They have taught me about caring for the whole person, not just their physical needs but their mental and emotional needs as well. The point of being a caregiver is to do what is necessary to make a persons life better.

I love being a care giver because you can become someone's best friend and help them live life like they are still young and spry! It's such a satisfying feeling leaving work every day knowing that I made life easier for someone and more comfortable. I strive to make their needs happen to the best of my ability. And I treat them the way I would want myself or anyone in my family to be treated, because they are your family and they mean the world to you. They deserve companionship and to be loved just like everyone else. The thing I enjoy most about a being a caregiver is that I make a new friend and get to make every day for them easy and can hopefully help them improve! It's such a rewarding job knowing you've given them love and care when they need it.
