Ever since I was a little girl, I would go with my mom to volunteer at care facilities and nursing homes. I am passionate about helping people with their needs while being open-minded and compassionate towards everyone and their walks of life. I have been in a few different occupations but caregiving has always given me a sense of purpose and makes me feel good about being able to make someone's life a little better. I became a caregiver initially as I was applying to nursing school and needed a CNA license. I instantly fell in love with the hands on patient care aspect of my job. I truly enjoy being able to connect with my residents and give them the respect and level of care they deserve. While working with the elderly I strive to treat them as I would my own grandparents. In fact, the summer after my freshman year of college, I moved in with my grandfather who had advanced stage Parkinson's disease to be his primary caregiver. Having worked with several residents who's Parkinson's stages ranged from newly diagnosed to advanced stages, as well as having an Alzheimer's Association certification, I felt well prepared to handle his needs. Although he passed after a few short months, I am very proud that I was able to let him stay in his home as he desired and make his last few months the best they could be. I am a last semester social work student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I have an American Sign Language certificate and am BLS certified as well. My hobbies include traveling, hockey, hiking, fishing and spending time with my family. My grandfather taught me many things in life but the most important was to treat everyone the way you would like to be treated.

Hi, My name is Melissa and I'm 46 yrs young. I've been a CNA for 26 years. I also have certification as a Medication Tech/Assistant. My experience in healthcare is a very wide range. I've worked most of my career traveling to different Nursing Homes and Hospitals when they were lean on staff. Almost everyday was something different with new experiences and challenges. I am a very caring nurturing type person. I believe every client/resident should be treated with respect and dignity. My motto is to treat every individual as if it were my parent or grandparent. How would I want them treated and cared for. I also have had proper training for ventilator, memory care, skilled care, long term care and Therapy to name a few. I have the experience and can handle the changing environment that come with this population of people. I believe I do well in this area because of my positive attitude and always striving to be the best team player I can be. I originally took the CNA course just to satisfy a RN school prerequisite. As it turns out, I got my permit and began working the summer before I was supposed to start nursing school. Never managed to pass nursing school but after some time that fact didn't really matter; I realized I was having a blast at being an aide. I get to have full patient contact, get to know everyone. I realized just how important being an advocate for patients I am responsible for caring for is. I do a job not many people can do. I have had supervisors, family members et al admit that fact. It is nice to be needed, wanted but most of all, trusted. I tend to build a repo ire with patients and their family members and address their concerns within my scope or relay those concerns to appropriate professionals.

I am Wisconsin certified nursing assistant. Currently I am going to nursing school and I expect to graduate in 4 semesters. I worked in hospitals, nursing homes, and have over a year of experience as private caregiver.

I became a caregiver was I was 19yrs old. I want to help people, my grandpa was sick with cancer. I seen all the care that he got from caregivers that came in to help him and I wanted to do that. The most I like about being a caregiver is the faces on people that I help. The little things, the touch to let someone know that you are there, fixing of the pillow so it is tuck under the head, eye contact to let them know you are listening, hold the hand when someone is having a bad day, sit by the bedside until they fall asleep,the interaction that I get from someone, the smile on someone's face. I'm 39yrs old married for 5yrs have two girls and one step-daughter. Grew up in San Diego Ca. moved up here when I was in high school, been here ever since. My father was in the navy station in the Philippines when me met my mother. Moved back to the states when I was two, moved around from difference bases. At the age of five he got station in San Diego where I lived until I moved up here. This is where my dad's side of the family is from.

I am a 38 year old female, I have been a CNA for almost 15 years now. I have enjoyed most of my experience working in adult family homes. I have one son, 19, I will be moving to Illinois with the love of my life in February 2019. I am currently looking for employment so when I get there, I'm all ready to start work! I enjoy taking care of people and have always been a good ear to listen. I love the outdoors fishing hunting and camping. I also love to cook!
