i am a 37 year old woman with 2 children in the age range of 12 and 17. i became a caregiver because of the fact i love helping people when they are in need. i like being able to just help. my grandmother has Alzheimer since 2002 she moved here with us when it got to much for her to be by herself in Chicago and i have been caring for her since i got to get alot of certificates in alot of different diseases

There are many qualities that make one a great caregiver. My qualities are that I try to do my best when working with residents as well as trying to understand them. Aging out does not mean they do not have needs or that they should not be heard, I try to use critical thinking and make every resident as comfortable as possible so their needs are being met. I am an outgoing person I love to help others and exceed my job expectations, I am a carrying person who is easygoing and takes responsibilities as well as the needs of others seriously. I have a grandfather with dementia and this made me want to help others who need an assistant. I have seen the lack of caregivers there is for elders. I love caregiving because it allows me to have a better understanding of what goes on in others' life and I get to be part of people's life making a difference in assisting them or bringing them a smile. I am proud of the person I am and how far I have gotten with my psychology and social work bachelors that I am currently working on.

Within those two years, I've helped people who had strokes, Parkinson's disease, pancreatic cancer, who suffered from loss or depression, and dementia. I am an extremely passionate and hard worker. My patients are not simply patients, but family to me. It is in my greatest interest to make my clients healthy and happy. I like to take my clients out to eat, to parks, play board games, watch movies, or whatever makes them happiest. What attracted me to being a caregiver was when I had to take care of my aunt with stage four pancreatic cancer. It made me realize how many people need help and that I want to be the one to help them. I enjoy making people feel better, even if they are at their worst.

Hi my name is Marissa, I started caregiving after I graduated highschool. I was very close with my grandma. She was my world. She passed away in 2009, and I honestly did it there on out. Elderly are super important to me and need to be loved. I love knowing I can help a family in need when I know how tough it is to care for a parent or family member when you have your own life to live as well, I enjoy it and it could be a good career. It's rough sometimes, and I miss who I've cared for but it is the circle of life. Dementia Alzheimers med giving Bed bound patients Bed baths med giving feeding. Gtube feeding switching out bags and adminstiring pills through gtube. Companionship weekly I'd buy lunch and we'd play games puzzles etc walks outside or simply staying in watching the news. I have given insulin for diabetics also checking blood sugar catheter changes and new ones! I am very qualifed for many positions. I was also a personal assistant as well, computer work, errands, work emails business calls.
