i am a 37 year old woman with 2 children in the age range of 12 and 17. i became a caregiver because of the fact i love helping people when they are in need. i like being able to just help. my grandmother has Alzheimer since 2002 she moved here with us when it got to much for her to be by herself in Chicago and i have been caring for her since i got to get alot of certificates in alot of different diseases

There are many qualities that make one a great caregiver. My qualities are that I try to do my best when working with residents as well as trying to understand them. Aging out does not mean they do not have needs or that they should not be heard, I try to use critical thinking and make every resident as comfortable as possible so their needs are being met. I am an outgoing person I love to help others and exceed my job expectations, I am a carrying person who is easygoing and takes responsibilities as well as the needs of others seriously. I have a grandfather with dementia and this made me want to help others who need an assistant. I have seen the lack of caregivers there is for elders. I love caregiving because it allows me to have a better understanding of what goes on in others' life and I get to be part of people's life making a difference in assisting them or bringing them a smile. I am proud of the person I am and how far I have gotten with my psychology and social work bachelors that I am currently working on.

I'm a certified nursing assistant, with two years of experience. Within those two years, I've helped people who had strokes, Parkinson's disease, pancreatic cancer, who suffered from loss or depression, and dementia. I am an extremely passionate and hard worker. My patients are not simply patients, but family to me. It is in my greatest interest to make my clients healthy and happy. I like to take my clients out to eat, to parks, play board games, watch movies, or whatever makes them happiest. What attracted me to being a caregiver was when I had to take care of my aunt with stage four pancreatic cancer. It made me realize how many people need help and that I want to be the one to help them. I enjoy making people feel better, even if they are at their worst.

I love to think of myself as a smart fun loving woman. I have always been a caregiver at heart from the time I was fifteen my great grandmother became ill and i loved going to her house hearing stories. So naturally I help with all her health care needs that came along in the day as we would sit and talk and cook I would get her medications and do anything else she needed. And after her passing I really wanted to get in the care worker field.

I love to help Seniors and Elderly as they become disable or frail due to increase in age. I have 10+ years of experience as caregiver, 5+ years as Live-in. I want to work as Live-in Caregiver or Long Shifts. Initially I was taking care at my home itself to look after the loved one. Later on it became my profession. Thanks to Madison Technical College who trained me to obtain my Certification as Nursing Assistant. I got my Nursing Aide License in 2009. My sincere efforts rewarded me as Employee of the Month during my health care career. It is a profession which include several work tasks, one cannot write in complete details, it may take lot of time and writing space. However, to name a few: Activities of Daily living, toileting, oral hygiene, bathing, skin care, nail care, dressing, meal preparation and feeding. In case of transfers: Hoyer lift, Ez lift, wheel chair transfers. Med reminders, errands and shopping. Doctor's appointment or recreational trips. Range of Motion and other instructed exercises if any. Light house keeping and laundry is also a part of the Caregiver's job. Time management, client's safety and security is also first priority to be provided to clients. Apart from physical support, emotional assistance is also important while providing care.
