Hi, I'm Ceddrika Smith. I'm from Homer,La. I have a 6 year old son. I'm a great listener and helper. I love to meet new people and I love helping others.

As a caregiver, I intend to manage the physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical needs of another person. It warms my heart knowing I am able to care for someone who needed my help.

I'm a single mother of three boys. My oldest son has septo optic dysplasia and autism. He is special needs and is the light of my life. My other two sons are very young and active! I was married to my late husband for about 4 years and then a few months after we got married he was developing signs of an illness and after months of traveling back and forth to Little Rock, Arkansas he was finally diagnosed with ALS. Shortly after his body didn't take long to start shutting down slowly and painfully. We struggled with this awful disease all the way up until his death on March 9, 2021. While dealing with this hard situation it has taught me a lot about compassion and how it is important to show love and care for individuals who are dealing with a unfortunate life ahead of them. Not just those in need but everyone who we come in contact with in our everyday lives.

I've been a caregiver for over 15 years,I love being a caregiver,just enjoy taking care of others.I've been a certified nursing assistant since 2004.I've worked in hospitals,group homes,nursing homes,private care homes,with elderly and special needs patients.

I'm a wife and a mother to 2 little boys. I'm also currently working on becoming a CNA certified.

1. What are your personality traits or expertise that help you be a great caregiver? I'm naturally patient, empathetic, and dependable--traits that have helped me build trust with both clients and families. My years of experience have also sharpened my ability to recognize subtle changes in behavior or health, especially in memory care. I stay calm under pressure, and I always try to bring comfort and dignity to those I care for. ------ 2. What attracted you to being a caregiver? I've always had a heart for helping people, especially those who need extra support. What drew me into caregiving was the opportunity to make a real difference in someone's daily life--whether that's helping them stay independent or simply being a source of kindness and conversation. It felt like a calling, not just a job. ------ 3. What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? The relationships. I enjoy getting to know each client and their unique personality, history, and preferences. Being able to brighten someone's day, even with something small like a meal they enjoy or a shared laugh, brings me a deep sense of purpose. ------ 4. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? I'm proud of becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant and maintaining a 10-year career in caregiving. It hasn't always been easy, but I've stayed committed because I love what I do. I've also helped clients recover from surgery, regain mobility, and remain in their homes longer--and those are accomplishments I hold close to my heart.

I COME FROM A BACKGROUND OF GRANDPARENTS THAT HAVE BEEN THROUGH DEMENTIA, CANCER AND STROKES ALONG WITH MULTIPLE OTHER HEALTH ISSUES. I LOST MY MOM IN 2019 DUE TO A HEART ATTACK AND MY GRANDMOTHER IN 2019 DUE TO Alzheimer's DISEASE. I FELT BETRAYED AND THOUGHT WHY ME, BUT TODAY I FEEL LIKE IT PUSHED ME TO BE MORE UNDERSTANDING AND TO HELP THE FAMILIES THAT ARE GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING IN LIFE, BECAUSE ITS ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS TO WATCH YOUR LOVED ONE GO THROUGH WITHOUT SUPPORT OR SOMEONE THEY CAN TRUST TO CARE FOR THERE LOVED ONES LIKE THERE OWN, SO I PERSONALLY UNDERSTAND AND WANNA HELP AND TAKE CARE OF SOME OF THE HEAVY RESPONSIBILITIES THAT ARE NEW AND HARD TO COPE WITH. TO MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE THEY ARE NOT ALONE AND CAN TRUST IN THE PERSON TAKING CARE OF THERE LOVED ONES HEALTH AND HOME.
