I am 51 year old female. I have a 19 year old in college and 2 dogs. My dogs have a dog door so that helps working long hours if needed. I am retired from worker in school system for 20 years as a School Social Worker. I miss the kids but love working with elderly. I have been working as a caregiver off and on for 5 years. Been with people for 1-2 years then some short term. I have a lot of experience with dementia patients. I have been told I am kind. I talk when needed and quit when so. When we go out, like senior center I am social which sometimes helps clients that are shy. I was a caregiver when I was 20 years old and loved it.

I'm the "glass half full" instead of half empty kind of person, so I guess that would make me some kind of an optimistic. This line of work just happened years ago and I had no experience back then, didn't even know if I would like it. The moment I started and saw all it came with, I fell in love with it immediately. I love to just make people happy and to brighten their day. I've always been very personal and empathetic, ever since I was a kid. It's the love for the job and all that comes with it. I've always enjoyed helping others being a support in times of need. I was a K-12 teacher in Asheville for many years, after graduating from UNCwith a Teaching Fellowship. I've loved traveling and have studied throughout the world, including at Cambridge University and in Dijon, France. I'm a Dental assistant who loves caring and helping the older generation! My step mother was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) in 2005 and she is currently bed bound, and has been for 5 years. Taking care of her motivated me to become more active in the community by helping someone on my time away from my dental office! In 2017 I joined a company and was assigned to a couple. I've been taking care of them since! They fill my heart with joy every time I see them!
