I love the field I feel great at the end of the day when I do and care for someone. I dicided ended that this is what I wanted to do. Making people happy and comfortable. When I have done my job not only it is my job it's my passion. I'm a mother of two girls born and raised in Lawrence my parents are originally from the domincan republic they came to the state in the 60s. I've been a certified nurses aide for 15 years. My name is Connie and my mother's name was Carol. I took care of her until her early death at 53 for 10 years. She had MS. After being in the veterinary field for 20 years, I've gained a level of comfortability with all things clinical and medical. I adore the elderly and have experience with Alzheimer patients and those with dementia. I am a patient person, responsible and with a lot of desire to continue advancing in my learning, I like the work I do, for me being a caregiver is to feel useful helping others, in the future I want to be a great nurse and be able to continue helping those who they need more of me.

Ever since freshman year in high school, I have always wanted to do something that related to the medical field. First it was orthopedics and then pharmacy. I did not know that my mind would change to care giver until my junior year. I took a health science technology class starting my junior year. It was a two year class. Junior year was more focused on anatomy and physiology and Senior year we got to decide which path we wanted to go down. I chose the LNA path. I have always wanted to help people and going towards this path seemed like a sure-fire way to get there. I loved doing my clinicals at the two nursing homes near my school. It was an amazing experience. Knowing that I can help someone get through their day a little easier meant the world to me. Almost six years after graduating high school, I am still doing what I love and taking care of the people that need it the most.

I am an extremely patient, and caring individual. I have always wanted to work in the health care field since I was a kid. I truly enjoy helping other people, and being able to make a difference in their lives. I always put myself in their shoes, so I can try to see how they feel in certain situations. I take care of my clients the way I would want someone else to take care of my family members. I love being able to take clients out of the house, even if it's just for a short walk or drive around town. I feel it's important for them to keep their independence for as long as they can. I can't imagine doing anything else for a career. I take my job seriously, but have a fun, bubbly, outgoing personality.

I first started caregiving when I was 17. My first job was for glorias helping hands. At first i wasnt sure about how i felt about the type of work. I didnt have much experience as to what i was doing. I took some classes and got my rcs1 and crma first. Rcs1 is a residential care specialist and a CRMA is a certified residential medical assistant. As i learned more and worked more I realized that is was my passion to help others who may need some assistance in things they can no longer do. Honestly u really do have to have a passion for this type of work because u never know what could happen or what situation u may end up in. And some of the disabilities, and some health issues can be challenging. Ive been very lucky to continue and have worked and learned various disabilities, as well as illnesses. Today i have my rcs1, pss,cna, and also insulin certified, cpr certified, and first aid certified. I love knowing that I'm making a difference and im helping and am there for someone who needs some support and help in their life.

My journey as a caregiver started over 16 years ago I have worked in many healthcare settings as well as home health. I've worked with all ages. Mostly the elderly. I have taken care of two terminal lost angels which is why I no longer extend my hospice services to children. I also no longer provide live in service as well due to personal reasons. I am a very clean individual that is very sociable as well as friendly. I'm no chef but I rarely hear complaints about cooking an very adjustable to culture an customs. Can cook a wide variety of foods.
