Hi there, my name is Abby and I have been working in caregiving/healthcare for about 8 years. My mother worked as a CNA her whole life. I would often volunteer in the facilities she worked at, and I started as a CNA myself when I was 16. I have experience in a variety of healthcare settings, from home care to facilities to pharmacies to disability care. I have completed extensive training in Alzheimer's and dementia care, intellectual and developmental disabilities and basic life support and first aid. I have always been passionate about helping people and I love being able to help seniors stay in their homes and maintain their independence. Being able to form connections with clients, getting to know what they enjoy, and supporting them in continuing to the things they love is very important to me. My career has always been working as a Sales Professional on the West Coast. As I worked, I was also putting in many hours volunteering as an in home hospice companion, in home palliative companion, and serving in convalescent homes. I am currently considering being a Hospital Chaplain as a career change since this is where my heart is at. I'm a social person who loves to provide a positive environment with everyone I meet. My appreciation for hospice came when my mom needed this service and I knew somehow I wanted to be on the caring side of the industry. Please know my Sales career has helped me adapt to a variety of people which helps me meet them where they are at vs. a "canned" approach to all. I am high energy, reliable, and try to make the person I am caring for feel respected, loved, and like they are the center of the universe. If it's important to you, I am a Christian. When I first started caregiving over 12 years ago I wasn't sure if I would be making a career of a caregiver. To be honest it wasn't for me after the first few weeks. Well something happened and 12 years later I am still caregiver because this is what I am supposed to do in life. I have learned that I have a gift for memory care and a whole lot of love to give. I always make sure that my daily task will get completed in time for me to take the time to visit with a resident or client that needs someone to just be there for them. To listen,to talk to,or just quietly sit with them. Maybe they want to be mad and scream and hit at you. Whatever they need. I love what I do and I do what I love.

I'm 47 just old women. I have worked in the medical field since I was 17 years old. All the way from the elderly to Brian injury , labor and delivery and orthopedic rehab. Ages range from pre-me to over 100 yrs old. . I enjoy taking care of individuals and watching the progression from being born or recovering from a sickness or helping with a disability to allow them prolong they happiness in life.. I enjoy seeing someone happy because of what they have been threw out how they can make themselves and there loveled ones be happy and proud of what they have accomplished in there life. See them succeed as an individual in there life. Watch them get stronger and overcome obstacles that may arise in front of them. Grow and get healthy as much as they can to proceed in the adventures that come before then in life. I like seeing people strong and happy and I like helping them get there with all the caring that I have and teach them.

I grew up taking care of my grandparents so caregiving has become a passion of mine. I take pride in getting to know those I am caring for, learning their preferences and making them feel comfortable with the care I provide. I enjoy getting to know people and their families and building that bond. I have worked in both acute care and long-term care settings so I have a wide variety of experience and am able to adapt quickly. I have quite a bit of flexibility and can also work set days/times.

I have a big heart and a lot of empathy and I believe I was put here to help those who need it. I love to honor my capabilities my helping those who are not as capable. I've loved helping my older relatives since a young age, and decided to take CNA classes in highschool due to loving volunteering at the nursing homes in middle school. I truly love being able to touch someone's life with something as simple as a helping hand. It's a gift to be able to serve others! I'm proud to be a host home provider and have a client living with me at home, it's a goal I was working towards for a while!

I find myself to be a great caregiver because I am very outgoing, I have outstanding communication skills and I am a very hard worker. Learning new tasks has always been an easy thing for me.
