I would describe myself as a respectful, observant, reliable and patient person who provides first-class care. Over the years, I have worked in various roles where the need to work closely with other people, follow strict rules and procedures, and demonstrate understanding and empathy have been required.

I was a caregiver to a quadriplegic professor when I was in college to help pay for my tuition. After college, I continued doing private care on the side for some Alzheimer patients at a nursing home. In 2004, I enrolled at a nursing school for a year and a half. I did not finish my degree, but I did receive my certification as a CNA and as a Medication Technician. I keep up to date with the newest discoveries and findings in the world of medicine. Even though I have not had any new medical training, I am current on my knowledge of diseases, medications and side effects of such medications. For instance, I am aware that when you care for an Alzheimer's patient, you step into his/her world, and not insist that he/she conforms to your expectations of what is real. I am compassionate and capable. All of the kids are either all grown or almost grown, but I still have this vast need to nurture. My husband refuses to be smothered, so, I need to go out of the house and find someone else who would appreciate being cared for :-) My kids are my biggest accomplishment. The eldest is going to medical school this summer, and the middle one is attending UMKC in August. The youngest one is doing great as a Sophomore while giving out just enough sass to maintain her teenage status.

Growing up I have always been very interested in helping people for their daily living. I am kind, gentle, and very compassionate person. What attracted me to being a caregiver was generally to help people and advocate for people. What enjoy most about being a caregiver is to be able help people in their sickness and you see how their health improves. One of my personal achievements is to be able to graduate from school, proud of that.

What drives me to be a care giver is not only because its a job its a okace were i feel like i belong taking care of others who needs some one who ubderstand their time of needs and when its apporerate. I am a mother of four children and a Veteran of the US military. My Army experience as a field medic gave me knowledge of basic and Advanced patient care. I was stationed with a 200 bed EVAC hospital similar to MASH. I also worked as an Orthopedic assistant for several years and worked as a medical assistant and phlebotomist for a family practice for 3 years. I started in the home health field because my kids are about grown and as we all age I know the need is big to find above average care givers. I work because I want to and have the compassion for people and life.

Hello! My name is Lori. I am a mother of 4 (almost grown) children, and a daughter of one elderly parent. I have been a Physical Therapist Asst. for 29 years. My mother suddenly passed in 2017. My father has severe dementia, and in her absence, there existed a need for someone to care for him. I fulfilled this role for some time, until the inevitable, appropriate time came for me to return to my family and life back here in Missouri. I personally experienced the process of seeking a suitable caregiver for my father, to help maintain the lifestyle that he had always known. I didn't think that it should be difficult to find this person (people). But, it was, especially in a small rural KS town, considering the financial resources available. I discovered a passion for in-home caregiving. I have been blessed to be able to continue caregiving since that time, and have worked with several wonderful families. I am reliable, competent and compassionate. It is my desire to continue caring for those in need.
