I retired from nursing in Aug 2020, and found out I missed caring for patients. I get enjoyment from taking care of clients, catering to their needs, and helping them to feel better. I presently provide care for 2 clients for a total of 10-15 hrs a week. I would like clients close to home, within 10 mile radius. I am honest, dependable, reliable, and most of all a caring individual. Seeing them feel better about themselves is fulfilling. A patient once asked me how I could wipe a person's buttock and not find it degrading. I told her if it made her feel better that's all I needed to know. That helping people feel better was my pleasure in life.

My name is Chelsea. I have worked in nursing homes/ primary care for 10 years. I find myself a very caring, compassionate, patient and understanding person. I try to find the good in every situation. In the last year I took a break from healthcare and took a position in childcare. Somewhat the same as care giving but on the other end of the spectrum. I enjoy creating relationships with my patients and giving them the care they deserve. While working in elderly care I found a majority of the staff was there for the paycheck, I can't say that for myself. I felt important as I became closer with my residents as they felt the comfortable with me as they couldn't with some of the staff. Caring for people makes me feel good because I am making someone feel happy and that is important at their time in life no matter what age, Having to have help is always hard and to have someone that understands , is patient and kind is key in my eyes.

One personal experience that I am proud of was when employed in a nursing home. I had been caring for a sweet women who was at end of life and had the most amazing family. I had a special connection with this women and eventually the family. I went out of my way something others didn't do to make not only my patient but the family comfortable. When her final days came, the family went out of there way to show there appreciation and love towards me and my loving, caring self. I hear from this family often years later, with continuous thank you, and updates. I also am very proud to say I was accepted into nursing school for this fall, which I look forward to. I can't wait to further my education and knowledge to be able to better care for others lives.

I've been a caregiver since I was 18 years old. I took care of people with special needs. I started nursing school when I was 20 years old. I graduated when I was 24 years old. I was a nurse for 15 years and then my grandmother got sick and I became her caregiver. I believe a caregiver is there to do anything for the person that they care for.
