My name is Silahis. I am a dedicated, excellent candidate. My availability is flexible. Before doing personal care professionally I went through the nursing program but dropped out a semester and a half shy of finishing the program and then pursued massage therapy and received my license caring for special needs children. My personal caregiving journey started when my aunts had breast cancer and mother had a stroke and needed assistance. I am happy to help with social support (I enjoy being around my elders). My skills and prior experiences include caring for family members since I was a little girl to caring for an ALS client who was wheelchair bound, needed PEG-tube feeding, and breathing assistance as well as massage therapy. Other duties I do include helping with gait and balance, light meal prep, medication administration and management, driving family and clients to their appointments and managing/organizing their computer, and on some cases providing massage therapy. On a personal side, I love photography, reading books, movies, music, fishing, learning and exploring. I become a CNA because when I was three yrs old I told my parents that I wanted to grow up taking care of people when they was sick & from that time & still to this day that is what I love to do. I enjoy taking care of people as much as I enjoy taking care of my family, because to me they are my family as well, in the eyes of God. My personnel achievement that I am proud of is when I went to work at UTMB & was able to learn all that they provided for me. I even got my Phlebotomy certificate & moved from PCT l to PCT ll.
What to say about my self, well as I said before, I live my life caring for others & I enjoy doing just that. When I am not working I feel lost in this world.
I was a Nurse aide back when we did not have to be certified, I started my nursing training in High School in Health Occupations Students of America classes in 1980, & have work in private care giver positions, Rehab hospitals, Hospitals (which includes working on Ortho/Trama unit, geriactics, med surg, MICU, SICU, recovery/PACU& much more), Nursing Homes, & Al timers Units.
