I was too young to remember the story but my aunt says when I was 4 years old, that I comforted and reassured her when she was crying over a breakup with her boyfriend. I believe this was the beginning of my journey to care for others. I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

Hello everyone my name is Teanna Murphy, I have 9 years of expert experience in the medical field. I hold many titles/hats. To go down the list I am a CNA, med aide, aba clinician, companion, direct support professional and professional pizza lover. I have worked in facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, group homes(youth and adults) , jails, asylums etc. You name it I've done it. I'm Caring, Compassionate, and Hard working. I became a caregiver when my Grand mother became ill. I wanted to give her the same care she gave us when my parents split. I always try to give a 110% and would do whatever it takes to make the clients feel as normal as possible. I've been a caregiver for over 20 years. I'm a pca, I love caring for people, I've been driven since I was 7 taking care of my elderly disabled grandmother . I have over 5 years experience, I have experience with everything from Als, alzimers , dementia, daily tasks, daily's care, Boyer life, wheel chair , intellectual disabilities, autism etc. I care for the patient as if they were my own family and I love doing it . I'm very companionate, patient and kind and show empathy when I'm working ... those are the main characteristics I believe anyone must have to work in this field ..... especially compassion. My mother died of cancer and had quite a few aids, that's what inspired me to become an aide and help others that may need help too ! I'm very thankful for the help they provided for my mother and I see how important and great of need that some people may have ... I enjoy being there for others who are in great need . Receiving my CNA LISCENSE and MED TECH LICENSE is one personal achievement that I'm proud of . That allows me continue to help others not only with a sense of compassion but professionally and trained correctly!!!!
